A pony on my yard is shaking her head, so much so she cant be ridden.
Vet cant find a single thing wrong with her physically, she is going off for a head xray & tube up her nose tomorrow, she has had every single lice / mite / flea treatment you can think off, been alergy tested, came back clear, ears are fine, eyes are fine, teeth & gums are fine, nasal passages clear, nets dont help, only really started this badly 4/5 weeks ago.

Vet is stumped, we are stumped.

Any clues????

Had a similar experience with a very good showjumper before. He was always a bit headshy and difficult to do, but started head shaking and banging his noggin off walls in his stable 24hrs a day, had every treatment imaginable and was booked for a "brain scan" of sorts in Dublin. Treated his ears for mites again 2 days before he was to go, and that was it. head shaking stopped. The first thing he was treated for when he started the shaking was ear mites but it wasnt until the second treatment that it cleared up.

Could be as simple as ear mites, could be as complicated as a neurological problem like postherpetic neuralgia (horses can get this only treated surgically in Liverpool and London-this one is so serious they will be literally banging their heads during an attack)
