I am compiling a new first aid kit as the old one has had it! So far I have animalintex, some gauze non-stick pads, vet wrap, hibiscrub, wound powder, iodine spray, hydrogen peroxide, sudocrem and scissors. What else would you suggest?

iv also got in mine:
Poultice boot
Geleeze under bandage
Stethoscope
Thermometer
Nappies
Penknife/multitool
Aloe vera gel
Arnica gel
Devils claw capsules
Duct tape (lots of)

also plasters for me :)

Thermometer, salt, clean sponge, vaseline (for thermometer), I have bute in mine but may not be politically correct, though I am sensible when and when not to use it, clean towel, clean syringe, iodine.

Yes have bute (I knew I'd forget something!), and also forgot I have compagel :)

What would you use the salt for - saline? And what are green oils?

In addition to your list..

Derma Gel
Few packs of bute/danilon
Cotton wool
Duct tape
Old plastic feed bag for poulticing

Lots of old towels (clean) available to use too.

ETA- Sure there are some tweezers in there too!

Hip flask of brandy :D for you not the horse, depending on the severity of what you are dealing with!

Nappies are good for poulticing too.

Salt - I wash most wounds out with salt water, just less harsh than hibiscrub, you can also stand them in buckets of warm salt water for an abscess, also in food if they aren;t drinking for any reason.

Green oils is a anticeptic gel stuff that I put on deeper wounds that I don't want to dry out too quickly (when I want them to heal from the inside out rather than scab over the top and trap dirt in)

Oh another unusual one - superglue - perfect for sticking stupid collie ears together when they run into/ through things and split them - vet recommended we use it directly, that's all they do when we take her in!
