What do you pay someone to harrow, roll and reseed?

Last week I had my 2 acre field harrowed, reseeded and rolled and a further 1 acre field harrowed. He also went out and got 3 rails for my fencing and replaced 3 broken ones for me. He then delivered a 10x4x4ft bale of hay for me. Paid him yesterday - how much do you think it cost?

no chocolate digestives, but do have summer fruits cheese cake?

Will see a few other guesses before I give it away.

I'd say between £200-250. Depends on how bad field was. I'v got a 1.5 acre that gets really trashed and pay £100 just to harrow.

Bottom half of 2 acres was totally poached and not a blade of grass left. Top of field was a little better, but still lots of bald areas. 1 acre was ok, hence just harrowing it (would have rolled it too but roller wouldn't fit through gate!)

Was £80 to harrow, reseed and roll 2 acres, harrow 1 acre and go out and get the rails and fix my fence. Thought that was super cheap :)

£45 for the bale of hay delivered! Was paying £20 for an 8ft bale over winter, but he ran out and had to buy these £45 bales in. Lovely hay, but bloomin pricey.

But thought £125 for all of that was super.

That's well cheap!! Lucky you! Is that a proper paddock maintenance firm or farmer?

Local sheep farmer who has a paddock maintenance firm on the side - does the local fencing and field work. He's a star - when I split my 2acre field in 2 I decided to use slip rails in the gate way. Went out and got brackets and rails and OH did it all. Next time farmer came up he said "you do realise that gap is far too narrow for my harrow and rollers - let me make it wider for you, I even have some 15ft rails at home you can have". When asked how much he wanted for said rails, all he wanted was a beer :)

Had a bit of rain today too - hopefully that'll help the seed germinate as the clay soil has gone rock hard round here with all the sun we've had.

That's not fair!!! Why is it there's no one like that around here! At least not with me anyway! Even my groom (twice weekly) a friend also, turns up late occassionally and doesn't finish jobs because got to get to next job! Still expects paying for the whole lot though!

Get a father-in-law who is a farmer then it's really cheap to get this work done i.e. £zilch ;)

Very jealous - not a single useful person in my family at all! Thats a lie actually - my OH fenced my whole 2 acre field last summer on his own without a clue how to do it. Looked at some fencing near to my field and got stuck in - made a mighty good job of it too! He also put my field shelter together, but as it came flat packed like something from IKEA, think I could have done it too if I had the physical strength to lift the panles.

I'd tell your "friend" she'll bloomin get paid for the work she does and by the sounds of it thats not a lot! The money you'll save will pay for another groom!
