Hey
I currently have a pair of equitector long boots for shows but find them a bit big and slippery to ride in (can't grip round her sides as well

).

So i am thinking maybe i should sell them and buy a pair of leather gaiters to go with my musto jodphur boots? My concern is what shows can you not do with these?

I am not sure what i want to get upto in the future so what can you do/ can not do with gaiters?

Guess the other option is to buy a different pair of boots- what do other people like? (BTW i have wide calfs and narrow ankles...

Thanks

I compete in short boots and leather gaiters, I believe that both BD and BSJA allow you to do this as long as they are matching, I'm not sure on BE. I have fat calfs and small feet!

Hi, if your showing county level you must wear long boots, if they are a bit long at the mo wear them around the house to break them in, they will drop when they crease around the ankle more.
Gaiters would be ok at local level, but if you dress properly you will stand out from other people.

I wear short bots and gaiters as I find them much easier t ride in as i've got short chubby legs nd little feet and i can't get long boots to fit, and if they fit my feet there to tight on my legs,

As far as I know for BE/BD/BSJA/unaffiliated under those rules, you can wear gaiters as long as they are black or brown leather gaiters (not chaps) that match your boots. I wear my Mountain Horse Sport jod boots and some cheapie Robinsons leather gaiters and they actually match quite well and look like long boots!

I looked at BD and BSJA rules the other week due to wanting to know whether to get boots (fat calves! No chance) or gaiters.

Both rules say you can wear short boots and gaiters, but they must match and must be leather, not suede.
