I think I'm either out of touch with horse prices or they don't seem to have come down with the so called recession.

I am looking for a 15-16hh
Mare or Gelding
to do dressage, to be able to compete up to Elementary and hacking etc, it doesn't need to jump.
Must be good to hack on its own and be safe in all kinds of traffic.
Nice balanced paces and move from the shoulder.
Aged 5-10.
No full Tb's

I have a budget of £8k ish and I seem to be struggling, had 2 failed vettings and been to see horses they were not as described.

Can I get what I want with my budget?

Would really like to know your thoughts.

I have seen a horse that fits the bill but up at 9Kono, as a general rule, there may not be one, but what would you expect to get off the price on a ono.

I have just sold a very nice horse for around the top of your budget and he would have gone beyond elementary. In this climate 9kono could easily accept 8.

I have one for sale at the moment but a bit bigger than you are after, she's going to be advertised for £6.5k.

I think you should easily get what you want for that money, you just need to keep looking. Do not be afraid to look at horse a bit more expensive and make an offer.

Well you would think it would be easy but I'm am struggling to find something "Nice" for that money.

Might go and ring up the 9k horse and see whats what, do I mention on the phone I only have 8k or wait and see if I like him, I just don't want to waste people time.

Tell them on the phone for sure. I have let horses be tried for less money than they were advertised at, and indeed sold, so don't be shy, nothing ventured, nothing gained!
