What would you say is wrong with this horse??

She lost a shoe a week before she was due to be shod, she was a little sore a few days before she was done, since then she hasnt been herself, shes quite fat and is out day and night, shes all doddery on her feet and lame on and off on her front left????

What do you think?? its a horse at my yard, I think is probably laminitis but ive never had a horse with it so thought I would ask you lot??

there isnt a pulse but her left hoof is hotter than the right, but both are quite hot, the thing is I think she should be in, but owner feels bad leaving her in all day and night, but if it is lami then she need to be in doesnt she??

I don't wish to be over dramatic, but if it is laminitis, the longer it goes untreated the poorer are the chances of a full recovery.

By being 'kind' to her horse, the owner is actually being the reverse.

Well thats what I want to say but its not my horse and I dnt want to stick my nose in as ive never had experience of laminitis but I think I have to coz she really sholudnt be out should she.

The owner should be calling her farrier to remove the shoe if the horse is lame or even just footy, may lami but could be an abscess developing.
If it is lami then horse should be off the grazing asap and on hay, soft bedding and given some bute by the vet etc

Inform the YO asap if you feel the owner is being negligent and the horse is at risk, should be their job to ensure the liveries are looking after their horses and seeking vetinary attention if need be.

Agree with Kenzo, always get farrier back if there is a problem of any sort after shoeing and certainly dont get vet till farrier has been!

It very much does sound lik Lami.

A person I knew had a pony with Lami, and was on and off like the one you're describing. By the time it came to trying to treat him, he had to b PTS as he was to far gone, he was in so much pain they could just barely get him out of the stable, poor boy.

I would advise trying to speak to your YO, as she/he will be devastated (sp) if they loose said pony.

Goodluck
