Hi all,i have 2 new horses, have only got pics of this one for now. Am sooo pleased with both of them and they have settled in well with my 2 mares, they are a proper little family now!!!

I would like any opinions on this boy,he was rescued by his previous owner at bridgewater sales as a 2yr old being ridden and thrashed by a very fat man, poor boy.
Breeding unknown but i think he is welsh D as i have 1 and he looks just like my mare but a different colour!!!! has an amazing trot!!! He is just turned 5 now but hasn't done anything but the odd hack.
A lady who shows at county level rode past him in the field the other day and said he looked very special and flashy and that i should show him,so thats my plan!
Here he is (pics arn't great):

Oooh he is rather nice! How tall is he?

Only problem you will have showing is that there is no way of proving he is Welsh D, although I do agree I think he looks like he is.

Yes did think that too but he could go in unregistered classes,my other one is registered and has all bloodlines etc and i used to see some very strange looking welsh d's in the unregistered classes!! Don't think Davey Jones will look too out of place?

He is 15.1hh and might get to 15.2 me thinks,he is built like a tank! very very wide

He does look stunning! If the freeze mark isn't something you've had done you might be able to find out a bit more about his history from that? Although sounds like you already know the poor lad didn't have the best start :-( He is lucky to have found a home with you :-)

Can you get a DNA test with the relevant Welsh Pony Society? I know the Irish Draft lot insist on DNA tests before they are graded.

Yes, I am sure you can, Welsh Pony and Cob Society can trace breeding for you with relevant tests. We looked into it years ago with one of our brood mares

Very nice! And Fruity, if you're Oxon/Bucks, then you're not far away from me - so please do give your boy a set of directions and he can make his way over (it can't be very far!) to live with my gang!

He looks fab - he can come & make my D mare happy - then I can do pairs - or as they're both WIDE I could try the cossack style standing on their backs !!
ENJOY him & if you can trace his breeding let us know as definitiely looks like full D.

ahh thanks everyone for all the very nice comments, wasnt expecting such a positive response!! We are not far from high wycombe and i would be very interested in finding out his pedigree, will also look into the freezemark, will enquire to the welsh cob society tomoz will they be able to tell me what to do???? Glad i'm not the only one who thinks he is welsh! He has a huge amount of character and is soo nosy and v baby like,he loves to suck your coat sleeves and toggles! He loves annoying my dominant grumpy mare by following her everywhere,he totally ignores her efforts to frighten him and she is so confused as to why he doesnt run away cos every other horse has always been wary of her,she makes faces, bites him etc and he just seems to love it!!! It pees her off a treat! they oddly share a hay pile happily enough so cant hate him that much
