He is lovely and responsive when ridden, great around the kids, jumps every thing he was faced with, and good in traffic, no vices etc, etc.

Do you think he needs any more weight on his back end, I am worried why I am getting little second thoughts about him, perhaps its because I've finally found one and I'm getting abit nervy, he certainly wasn't the colour I thought I'd buy was looking at bays, but hey its not this chaps fault ! just means more work for me keeping him grass stain free !

He looks really nice! could do with a bit more muscle covering his topline. Apart from that he looks a nice sort.. Are you going to buy?

How old is he?

Exactly the question that was in my mind - he looks like he might be getting on a bit to me (or may just be lacking muscle through lack of correct work)

I think so, He's 11 years old and an Hanoverian, will his topline improve with more riding, and at the moment he's out on grass, would some hard feed help his muscle build up, I will be riding him 5 times a week weather permitting and having a lesson on him 1 - 2 times a week.

The Watcher, I think he's been out of work for a few months as his current owner is pregnant and not really ridden him much, the vet should let me know if he is much older shouldn't he?

any body else..., I would really appreciate any more comments, as I haven't bought a horse for a long time !

he's not got the best back end in the world but I don't think it's a reason not to buy him!! He looks and sounds lovely though!

My horse is similar to him, I don't think it's lack of food/weight, just the way he is... it certainly doesn't stop him doing anything!

If your not interested in showing I don't really see why it matters??

ETS - he is very very white though!! Good look with the cleaning!!

with some work he could look rather nice. might want to give him some serious hill work to help build up his back end.
he's not my cup of tea looks wise, but going by the sound of him ridden and nature wise, he sounds fab.

He sounds like a pleasant enough guy. One thing I would check him for though, is melanomas. No doubt he will have some, but you need to check that they will not be an issue for you.

It looks like quarter clips in front to e in photo, plus his right toe is quite squared, could be a sign of something, usually only see quarter clips on front feet cos of a problem like bad feet etc

He looks a bit long in the back and a tad upright in the shoulder. His back end doesnt look very strong and I would want to know why his fores are shod without toe clips! Sorry, Im not being very positive but it does depend on what you want to do with him

. Judging by his degree of whiteness, hes not a youngster-how old is he? M.

My farrier almost always shoes with quarter clips in front! Seems to work ok - my horses are always sound and the shoes stay on well.

Most of the horses on my yard are shod with quarter clips in front, I would let that put you off. Besides, the vet will be able to tell you about any uneven wear on his feet that would be cause for concern.

I think he looks fine given his break. My horse looked about 20 when I bought him and looked like a totally different horse in only a few months.

Zigzag - My horse is shod with quarter clips up front, sometimes its not the sign of a problem, but to prevent one! My mare has no problems with her feet at all....also alot of farriers in my area are using this method now. Maybe its a fashion thing, or a new way of shoeing?

Seems to do the trick on mine and she also has no problems, so i wouldnt be overly worried by this.

If the horse is suitable for what you want to do...get it vetted. Sure we might all point out bits here and there, but generally the vet can tell you of any concerns. Sounds like a nice sort - good luck!!

The price is £3750 ovno, , my previous horse's have never been long in the back but have been short coupled, does having a long back cause any problems?

LOL- inexpensive?! I suppose that shows the difference to peoples ideas.. although im biased after loosing nearly £3k on a horse i bought.

He sounds ideal for what you want at the moment and he looks fine bar the impractical colour! I have 2 liver chesnuts - a very practical colour!

He looks and sounds like a lovely honest chap. He's not put together particularly well and his feet arent great but we have one very similar and he's just a dream to ride so you put up with them needing more regular farriery etc!

At the end of the day if there is nothing untoward in the vetting, you like riding him, he does what you want with no ifs & buts then I would definitely buy him.

Some regular riding & schooling will do him plenty of good & I'm sure he will look a different horse in 6 months time.

No horse is perfect but one that ticks most of your boxes is worth having. Good luck I hope you get him.

I'd agree pretty much with what Boss said, he isn't perfect (feet and confo) but he looks a nice type and for the money could make a cracking allround horse. Please just make sure you get a 5 stage vetting done. Good luck with him and don't forget to invest in shampoo !
