i think he looks uncomfortable...? it might just be my imagination, but he doesn't seem to be very comfy. it could be his rider? but actually, i notice it even on the lunge.
i also would be too scared to buy a horse with 'buck' in his name
Might be the quality of the video and my blurry eyesight! but he looks quite tight behind - not tracking up a lot of the time in trot. He didn't look very comfortable in canter either, bit of tail swishing, tight in back, not much flexion in hocks and looks like he broke back to trot rather than it being a clear transition.
i agree it looks a little uncomfortable but a different rider might be better. he looks a bit stiff through the back but that could be the rider as well.
Hmmm it looks like there's something not quite right about the way he moves behind. He is not stepping under himself enough but I can't decide if he looks stiff or uncomfortable over his hind quarters or if he's just not going forward enough.
lmao I posted it to prove to my friend sat here that something is not quite right. Thanks guys I knew I wasn't imagining it but with all the crap horses I have seen I may well have been!!
I have to agree with nosey and clipcloppop, he dosn't look quite right. Doubt very much if he would pass a vetting.
that said he does seen very sweet and seems to try hard for his rider.
Agree with Nosey, he looks stiff in his hocks. May be because he's not really going forwards into the contact and is just tootling round rather then really using himself though.
Looks like he could be nice but guess the only way to find out is to go an try him. would probably be a good idea to take someone else with you so they can watch and tell you what he looks like movement wise if you push him forwards more.
(to me)..he looks very dead to the leg, and likes to go his own pace..but looks genuine and safe enough...as said, if u like him, why not go try him out!
i'll just add, that if i put a video of raff trotting on here, everyone would make similar comments... raff doesn't trot well, and falls from canter to trot... however, he suits my needs perfectly, and his lack of impulsion from behind is something we will work on. for now, his job is to rebuild my confidence and get me riding again. once i'm confident, we'll work on getting him working well.
so... as long as you get him vetted, and find out if there is a physical reason why he's not moving well... buying him would depend on what you want him for.
Not tracking up, lacks impulsion, downhill and on forehand, loosing balance in canter through his left rein and falls into downwards transitions, his trot is more of a jog.... (sorry list over!!) If he were younger I'd expect this level but for an 11 year old, I'd have expected a higher level of schooling. That is unless he's only had inexperienced owners, I agree with the others that he looks like he's been trussed up in draw reins and not been allowed to move forward and engage his back end. These problems could just be schooling problems or could indicate a health problem, the vetting would determine that I'd expect.
The plus side is that he does look to have a nice temperament and is very accepting!!
I would bet he has either back problems or billateral hind limb lameness. He is seriously backing off the leg, miles away from tracking up, the front end and the back end belong to two different horses, can hardly canter and his quarters are falling out all over the place. Poor horsey!
I like him as a safe allrounder with a bit of presence. His movement has been killed by someone dragging him in infront. He also has the potential to have quite extravagant movement, and I think this has been killed by the rider who I dont think could sit on anything which showed quite a bit of movement!! He has been drawreined I would imagine, but this can be remedied with time. Worth a look IMHO if the price is ok (cheap enough
) and you are willing to put in the tiem to right something that someone else has done.... the problem with buying older horses
