Depends what you want to do with him. Personally he doesn't appeal to me. He looks a touch croup high and his back legs don't look great from a conformation perspective?
Still, different strokes for different folks.

I agree - he looks nice but his back legs look like they belong to a different horse to his front legs!sorry!

I like him, big and bold. Conformation is a bit iffy, but I just like the picture as a whole

He's only 4 in these pictures, and he had a hell of a lot of growing to do. As a 5 year old he looked lots better

i dont mind the pic of him with the rider on..maybe if we could see him standing up now on a flat surface we would give a better opnion?

I think he is a nice sort and will be a totally different horse aged 7 years old as I think that is how long it will take him to find his strength and fully mature. I bet he can jump though. He reminds me of that horse an Australian used to compete in Nations Cup and top class level without the white bits - was it Beluga Bill?
If being really tough would say Roman nose, upright in the shoulder, and feet he needs to grow into. I actually really like him.

Well - the photos may be very unflattering and not doing him justice, cos in these pics he appears to have a straight shoulder, short neck, long cannons, tied in below the knee and sickle hocks! But photos can be frightfully misleading (give me a camera and I can make any horse look like a misshapen donkey lol) so I could well be wrong!

On the plus side he has powerful-looking quarters and a kind face with a noble expression - looks like a nice character.

Are you thinking of buying him?

smile.gif
Any chance you putting him in an envelope and sending him over?

Thank you everyone!
The first photo doesn't do him justice at all, he's standing really funnily and does look very strange. In fact he matured into a very nice horse, but these are the only pictures I have of him

He is my 'horse of a lifetime' Rocky, that I have mentioned on here a few times. I bought him as a yearling, he was 15.3!!
I backed him and brought him on myself and he was just superb, we were jumping double clears at BN and Discovery as a 4 year old and Newcomers as a 5 yr old. I think he would have jumped the moon if I'd have asked him!
He hunted like a dream even with little ole me on him. He was almost the perfect horse......... if he had been a hand smaller that is!
He was nearly 17 hands and I'm only 5ft 3, and he's very much a mans horse.

I sold him in 1997 when he was 5 to the MFH of the Surrey Union where he was in the hunt relay team for the Marlborough Cup 4 years running and jumped double clear every time.
He was eventually sold to the USA for £30k

Thanks for all your lovely comments, it's is my one regret that he was ever sold.
