What do you think of this horse?

If heis as described then he sounds nice for an intermediate level RC sort of a home and perhaps would do some BE100s.
What do you specifically want?

I want to do RC events, local shows, maybe some BSJA and BE at a low level. I'm fairly competent but I don't want something that needs a lot of work to get it to a level or one that won't jump! I could just send a tiny email couldn't I?? ;)

The whole time I was reading the advert I was thinking 'what's the catch?'.

Worth a look :)

Oooh, me too! I just got a reply to my email too :D I'm going to see him tomorrow!!!!

He sounds fantastic and I've seen more pics and a video too:

The reason for sale (apparently) is that his owner is very small and realised about 3 months after she bought him last year that he was just too big for her, the woman I spoke to has been sharing him for over a year and when she moved she was offered to take the boy with her and sell him for the owner.

He sounds great, a real big softy to handle but quirky enough to be interesting- apparently he is known to jump 4 foot over everything, even if it is a 2 foot jump "because he can". :D

Soooo excited!!!

P.s Have lurked on here for aages and am please to see that most people are as friendly as I'd hoped :o

Sounds like it'd do the job for you- personally I wouldnt jump it until it had learnt to carry itself- it's being ridden so on the forehand it virtually trips itself up at every cross pole.

THe last pic (XC one) on the ad. It's not the same horse, which always gives me cause to wonder. However things have moved on I see and I haven't looked at the video.

This ^. I would not want to jump him, and I certainly wouldn't want to take him XC. I'm sure he is a really nice horse - but don't be under the illusion that he is 'ready to go' because he needs a lot of work IMO.

Could be the same horse, clipped?
Very muddy back boots hiding the white socks ... different saddle for sure.

By its record its been a point to point and steeplechase horse and as it is 13 now I would imagine harder to retrain to be more careful with those legs and off the forehand. I'd be concerned about previous injuries such as tendons etc from racing. Obviously the price reflects the fact that it is an ex racer, they've just missed that out of the advert.

He looks a nice horse - if you think you can cope with him being strong.

Be careful of "the being sold by a friend", it can be a way of avoiding disclosing past history. The person selling the horse says they were not told about problem behaviours or injuries and the owner is not asked. To be safe you should ask to speak to the owner (and ask the questions), or have a trial period.
Or it could all be absolutely genuine.

Good Luck.

Is he this horse?

Yes he's an ex point to point horse

He's been out of racing for over 3 years now and has done a lot according to the woman I emailed. He does look a bit on the forehand in canter I agree but his trot looks good. Also, as he has point to pointed in Ireland he will have been well hunted so that is a bonus! I'm going to see him at around 4 so I'll let you all know! :)

Could you message me Puppy and tell me who he belongs to and maybe I can contact them too?

It is the same horse in the XC pic, you can see thay the hooves are white (even though they are muddy) and one white sock in front too. Different saddle may just be because it may have been his previous owner. It's the same horse though, the jumping style is the same.
