what do you think of this horse?

He looks a nice sort (not my type as he looks a bit big and lazy for me, but looks pretty straight forward and is a smart looking horse) but they could have done with better videos. If I was travelling any distance to see him I would ask for vids that show more than trotting on one rein and a short jump clip. I would also want to know why they have not been out and done anything with him (I assume they haven't as it is not mentioned).

Nice sort, but 17.1 as a 4 year old, he'll could be nearly 18h by the time he's 8 if he has filling and growing to do.
That's fine if you can fit that in your life but that would put me off
I would ask for more videos also

He's very big and young, so it is likely the video doesn't do justice to what he might be when stronger, he looses rhythm and doesn't look great behind, but given his age/height it wouldn't stop me viewing if that was the type of horse I was looking for (which it never will be!)

I don't see him not having been out as a negative, he is only 4, very big and rather weak so being pushed to compete would not be that beneficial. The video is poor, he is only shown in trot on the same rein for almost a minute, why no change of rein? he does look a little off at times does this look worse on the left rein? the jump is ok but not going to set the world on fire with the lack of forearm lift but it may improve as he gains in strength, he requires a lot of building up and is possibly cow hocked, not sure I would make a journey without seeing a proper video if all paces on both reins.

The videos are really quite limited, only showing him in trot on one rein and a 3 second video of him over a jump. I would suspect he still has a lot of growing to do.

Not a bad looking horse, looks weak but he is big and young. If your friend likes him and she/he isn't too far away then go have a look at him in the flesh. He will fill out and strengthen and could be very different in 1-2 years.

This ^^^^

He looks like he'll be a cracking all rounder. In 2yrs time.

He's huge, gangly and weak baby. He's going to be a BIG horse and probably a lot of most woman to hold together once he's filled out.

I would agree with everyone else that he is big and weak and will probably not be a horse until he is 8 or 9. Not everyone wants to wait that long!

From watching the video I think he dishes on his near fore.

He's the right colour, but has a hell of a lot of maturing to do. Also thought he looks slightly cow hocked and his off-hind looks off but probably due to weakness on a circle. Very strange way of showing a horse on one rein only and the photos aren't much cop. Good breeding though with Cassini II. Risks being huge but looks a nice easy sort.

Thanks. Will pass on the comments. I thought he looked unlevel/ not quite right on his off hind?

Also thought this, he looks a bit cow hocked and is taking a short stride every few, but this could be babyness/lack of muscle, I'd want to see a more varied video before going to see, if I liked after viewing I'd get a 5 stage vetting.

As above, big green and immature. About 3k more than I expected him to be! Could be lovley, at some later stage, but seems very expensive for right now.

Doesn't move straight did not look very forward , and looks heavy and on his front ,he is going to be huge .
Could not really judge him on those videos though but he did not excite me .

I think if anyone competes him before he's six, they might break him, he is so weak and gangly. He should make a nice gents hunter In time, but he doesn't excite me for anything else and is far too much money for a weak horse of an unpopular size who doesn't move straight.

........and have to agree with CPT

Looks a little off, not tracking up and why only the right rein. Don't they realise just that alone makes a buyer suspicious. Also, I would want to see more than just the jump in the jumping video, how he approaches the fence and how he goes away from the fence are just as important. Big gangly youngster, nice enough but as others have said, doesn't excite

OH owns a large Dutch warm blood, bought as a 4 yr old, at 17.1, now as an 11 yr old stands at nearly 19hh. Had to give him loads of time off every time he grew, which was frequently! (and buy a new lorry he can fit in) He was weak and gangly when purchased and wasn't really furnished until he was 9, certainly didn't use himself properly until then. If he had been competed/asked to jump as high as this one when he was so young we are certain he would be broken by now. We wouldn't be without him, but it has taken time a huge amount of patience and quite a lot of luck to keep him sound and happy.
I am also drawn to the back end of the horse in the ad, it doesn't appear to be quite right.

Not wildly keen as I too have doubts about soundness. I would also look at that being a horse which is going to take a long time to mature and big horses don't always stay nice and kind when they suddenly work out how big they are!

I have to be honest these types of threads are in my opinion what is dumbing down this forum.
What gives any of us the right to pull to pieces a horse that is for sale that is being sold by somebody who maybe nobody knows on here and is a genuine advert.I would be pretty peed off if it was my horse as any potential purchaser can make up their own mind, maybe it is a crock in the making or the video may be doing it an injustice it is up to the seller to market the horse as they see fit. So why solicit adverse comment that could kill a sale when you or any of the people commented will not have seen it.
As for the comment I know what I think ( without putting that forward ) and then asking for comment shows a certain lack of confidence in your own ability to judge a horse.
Sorry if that sounds harsh but you have potentially ruined somebodies chance to sell that horse with no up close and personal knowledge of it .

Just to play Devils advocate......:)

If OP is looking to
Buy a horse there's a good chance he/she might ask friends etc their opinion on a potential purchase (much like the OP has done on here) people will offer their opinion & talk amongst themselves- the only difference here is that it's written down on a forum accessed by many.

Perhaps OP a doesn't have any experienced contacts to ask for opinions? Having previously bought an unsound horse which was sold to me by a dodgy private seller I would much rather see someone avoid a very expensive mistake than avoid offending someone.

I do see your point but We all pass judgement when we see these ads, that's the nature of online advertising.
