what do you think of this lorry and anyone brought from them?

How did one of their other lorries recently get plated when they say "(the speedo doesn't work but sat-nav will calculate your speed)"?

My horsebox's speedo doesn't work either and has passed 3 MOT's since I bought it - it's not classed as something essential in a MOT, it's only the police that have something to say if you don't have something as a speedo and as stated a sat nav will calculate your speed.

I can't spot any of the relevant info about this lorry in the description, e.g. mileage and payload, which is really odd! Surely these are the first questions any sane buyer would ask?

Payload yes but mileage on a 1991 lorry??? would anyone know??? mileage is erelivant on lorrys unless there is a itemised service log from day one which is rare on a 5 year old truck let alone a 19 year old one..i wouldent ask the mileage it would mark you down as a wally who dosent know much about lorrys and it woudent realy give any guide to its condition....

When the new VOSA regulations come into affect later this year, will this type of lorry pass its MOT? (The new regs state the clearance between the lorry bodywork from the ground must not be more than 55cm)

I can see the bar brings the gap lower than the new 55cm regulation, but I'm unsure if they now have to have a solid skirt? Does any one know?

That bar has been put on to comply with the new legislation. Solid skirts are not necessary.

Thanks for that, at least now I know I am "a wally who doesn't know much about lorrys" (I am really going to bite my tongue now and not say anything about people who don't know much about spelling :p).

My lorry has an indicator, just like my car, which shows current mileage. Knowing that the mileage is 37,000km for a 10 year old lorry does tell me it has done very few miles and is more likely to be in good mechanical order.

I don't know if this does not apply to older trucks (all the older ones I had, had the same indicator) but surely there are nicer ways of sharing your knowledge?

I used to have a small mercedes horsebox, and I wouldn't have another - here is why - the smaller mercedes chasis only have a single axel on the back, ie, there are only two wheels. You look at most other horseboxes and they will have a double chasis, so four wheels in total at the back (wheels side by side, not one in front of the other). It's hard to describe but I hope it makes sense. Anyway, it is a less stable ride for the horses, and tends to rock and bump around more on uneven ground. I cannot really see from the picture if this lorry has 2 or 4 wheels, but perhaps something to ask first?

Sorry I just wanted to help Im just a man we dont always manage to put things tactfully and spelling is just hopeless, agreed ...now this is important... If a lorry has a tachograph which has a device for recording how many KMs it has travelled and said instrument gives trouble which is common it gets oftern gets replaced so now the truck has a new tacho head reading 0
this can happen many times during a lorrys working life so when it ends up under a horse box it goes without saying it may have done a heck of a lot more than is showing
and low mileage dosent mean good condition.... good maintanace and care means good condition....
