In the add opposite - REG WELSH SEC C/D YEARLING COLTS

I am not looking for any reason other than interest, but what do you think of the one pictured? Do you think it will grow up to be a handsome chappy or not?

I knwo what I am leaning towards, but I can't quite decide and know JM07 and a few others are very good judges of what a youngster will grow up into!

I know alot of people don't like them with markings like this on their faces, they say they look more like cows!!!
But i like unusual marking and it looks to have nice eyes, could make a really nice pony.
It does say prices start from £600 but this may be one of their better colts that is priced higher, so what you see is not always what it says on the tin.

without seeing it walk, i cant say anything about conformation, except he doesnt look too special.

too much white on his face and not enough on his legs..ie odd number of white ones..if someone bought him and was serious about "welshie showing"

if he's the best of them because he's been used to advertise them...then.......

i personally wouldnt travel to see him based on that photo alone..

Looks just like my Robbie did when he was a baby! He was a 'market pony'. He's good to keep the others company but nothing else! Not saying this one will be but Rob turn out to be a very funny shape, I love the little burger to bits but would be embarrassed to take him in a show ring!! Bless him lol

A lot of welsh showing people like lots of white, I was always told that the more they look like a cow the better. The photo is not very good for commenting on the ponies conformation. You would need to go and look yourself.

I meant the lack of white re his legs...

they are un-evenly marked..would be better if they were stockings on all 4

I don't paticularly like him. Its just the white on the face that puts me off, I don't like too much white on a horses face, and the legs do look odd with the mix of white and non white legs.

Thanks for all the comments guys, appreciate it. I am not in the position to be looking for a horse, was just window shopping so certainly won't be going to see this chap. My first thought was "ooh no," I just asked because I remembered the before and after pics JM posted about a sec D that really did look quite funny as a youngster but gorgeous as an adult.

i like lots of white on a welsh but he does nothing for me, maybe just a bad pic but would have thought they would take a pic of the best

Even in that pic he hasnt enough bone to go far in showing or breeding a good cob....Two much white is not very good however there are many cobs showing today that have white markings on their face..however they have to have the body and substance to match..and i dont see it there!!

whoops sorry yes that is the chap I was thinking about, but obviously my memory not quite all it should be when it comes to his breed! Have yopu still got him or did you sell him on?

Whats your secret?? How did you know he'd come good - or did you?

he's still here... he is a fabulous pony.

no secret...he has, if you look closely!! a great overall skeltal frame..if they have that, then the foundation is there so the rest will come!

He had, even in that state a fabulous loose walk..from the hip and shoulder..

he still has it ..those are types of thing that i look for..even if they are a bag of bones, if they have a glimmer of a decent foundation then they usually come good!!

he is a strapping 14.1 now!!
