what do you think of this stallion?

He's lovely, and I like several of the stallions that scotland ai service have on their books very much - Handsome Stranger, not yet well-known, but looks lovely type ... also Cruisings Micky Finn and Scots Cavalier ..... sinking into despair about how I'm EVER going to choose for Beth this year. There's so much choice! Do I play safe and stay with a Holstein stallion, which produced a lovely colt foal for us last year - or go back to more traditional Irish breeding, and choose a TB stallion? Aaaarrrrgh!!!!

i know they've got a really good lot on there- I also like the caviler stallion and the two tbs!! like you said - theres to much to choose from!!!

If you are looking for Samber bloodlines, have you seen Umenno? I haven't seen him in the flesh but I've been watching his progress with interest on the web; he seems to get athletic foals & they always seem to have decent legs & movement and a nice outlook, whatever he's put to. He's not homozygous for colour, but I actually I rather like the pictures of his non-coloured offspring. Worth a look.

great ridden pics. He looks a nice fine quality type - unlike alot of the other coloureds ive looked at - who have all been a bit chunky!

Hello stranger! Mark you will need to encourage some of your foal owners to bring them forward for grading. I believe there may be SSH gradings in England this coming year, so plenty of opportunities.

Nice to see Tom Tom under saddle...

Talking of coloured stallions, another to consider would be "Haico", who is Licensed with the NRPS in Holland (I think he is the only coloured graded with the NRPS) and also Homozygous. Chilled semen is also available to UK mare owners I believe.

I saw this horse in the flesh two weeks ago in Holland and he is quite nice, with a very pretty head and excellent temperament. He is not heavily built and has good quality limbs and body.

Under saddle he was moving well, he has just started his dressage training having been with a showjumping rider. Was told that he has a great work ethic and very trainable.

Saw him in the stable and under saddle, and his stable manners were impeccable.

He does both dressage and showjumping. He has no Samber blood in him at all, which will appeal to many mare owners, and he seems to be a popular choice for mares in Holland.

More info on him can be found here - Stall GW

Looking at him I also think that he would match on most mares. His sire is "Haarlem" who is Voltaire x Irco Polo. The dam is by "Ed King Hill". So looking at the pedigree it is quite interesting also.

I am not a coloured enthusiast at all but I though this stallion was quite nice (which for me is saying a lot

). I also saw another lovely coloured stallion but he is not graded with a society yet I believe.

Hi Caroline,

We tried to convince breeders to register with the SSH but they mostly preffer other studbooks to register with.

Haico is a very nice stallion but offcourse not homozygous as both parents need to be coloured to be homozygous. He certainly is not free of Samber blood, Ed King Hill's dam is by Samber.

For those who really want to breed free of every none coloured bloodline I have a very good alternative. His name is Clochard and he is by Marome x Zortin and does not carry Samber, Ico, Elvis,Camaro or Polish blood. He is an outstanding jumper, jumped KWPN stallion competition in Holland, was winner of the 4 yrs old Varsseveld trofee in Holland and is now ready for the FEI levels.

He is fully approved with the AES.

The colour comes from his damline. I own his mother and her pedigree goes back 3 generations to 1961. She will be covered with TomTom next week.

This is his dam in the field:

This is his halfbrother by Eurocommerce Pennsylvania, he will turn 2 this year:

This is a daughter of Clochard x Appolonius XX x Ramiro she is purchased by the Morinda Stud in France:

Hi Mark,

My apologies on the bloodlines of the stallion in Holland.

That is a shame about the Tom Tom progeny because that will not help him move up if he does well in sport. All the people would need to do is have their passports/paperwork overstamped. Maybe if you explained the importance for the stallion?
