16.3hh, 9yo bay gelding.

Sound, good conformation, well mannered, no vices.

Well schooled, responsive ride, hacks alone or in company, scopey jump. Competed BSJA and Novice level dressage. Jumps anything in the school or out hacking but not novice ride as sharp and forward going.

BUT has loss of use stamp on shoulder. (from jumping - however he has been cleared by a vet to jump again and is 100% sound)

what would he be worth?

Similar one that I know of was bought for £4.5k - he came over from Ireland and is also stamped LOS but has been cleared by vet for competing - it's to do with his breathing not a soundness issue. He's a bit older though at 12 but a fabulous horse all the same.

I believe you can affiliate them for the activity they had LOU on again with a vet certificate.
Not sure though!

You wouldn't be able to insure him for jumping again, so compete at your own risk. I would think he would be pretty much valueless as a jumping horse due to this. If his dressage/hacking could be focused on and you could prove he was sound for flatwork with a vet certificate, you could probably sell him for around £3k or so.

Loss of Use only affects insurance, thats why they get branded so the insurance companies won't get caught out! And it all depends on why it was paid out in the first place. Provided, if you sell you pass on all the details as to why he has been branded and explain that he cannot be insured for that activity or for Loss of Use again, which I think you would have to anyway then there is no reason why you cannot value him higher.
