The past few day i have been up at my horses taking them in and grooming feeding putting haylage in the field then putting rugs back on and out.

Hari my mare seems to always be tucked up slightly from her girth area to her flanks. She is in a weatherbeeta medium weight rug high neck.

Do you think she could be cold?

And can i ask what you all think of her weight?
(sorry for the oversized pics i dont know how to make them smaller

Her weight looks ok to me but it is difficult to see properly from the pictures, you can see the line where she is tucking up though. Has she been wormed recently? She might be a little cold, an old but good way of telling if she is cold is if her ears are cold right to the bottom when you get her in. Hope this is of help

i have just wormed them about 2 weeks ago. And her ear are really cosy at the bottom

Do you think she would be ok in a heavy weight combo rug just now i just thought it was a bit early for it. I can always put on an under rug when it ges colder.

If her ears are warm at the base I doubt that she is cold. I would be wary of putting a heayweight rug on now as it is not really cold and is bound to get colder.

From the photos it does not look to me as though she is underweight.

Good luck with your mare.

you're in Aberdeen... of course it's ok! I was up at Glen tanar for a wedding a couple of weeks ago and it was minus 4 in the mornings!!

She looks ok to me, does she have a cough? the lines could be from that rather than tucking up.

are you stabled at Oldfold by any chance?
