I have a Disco - great for towing (up to 3.5 tonne towing capability), but noisy

Is one of the older shape as don't like the new ones

I do a lot of miles and find it quite tiring, also can't use my mobile's handsfree as I can't hear it!

I currently tow with a mitsubushi shogan, its tows great for me and never had any problems. As its starting to get quite old now was looking at changing it for a Mercedes ML, had a test drive and seemed excellent, although never tried towing with it so would be interested if anyone has used this?

out of the two I would go for the X5 - some models can tow up to 2,7t - I haven't towed horses with it, but it's happy with cattle trailer.
The volvo would be lovely drive, but it has only 2,3t capacity, which is OK if you have a lightweight trailer.

A friend has just bought an Isuzu Rodeo Max and she is raving aobut how superb it is, as both a general driving car and as a towing vehicle. Her OH just drove from Leeds to Cambridge on £30, which is PDG for a 4WD IMO.

We tow with a SWB mitsubishi pajero! It tows my rice trailer with two horses in it really easily, but the other day towing the ifor williams (type) trailer - not sure on make, it was 35'C+ and it slightly over heated! but it is 15yrs old!!!

It's a "does what it says on the tin" sort of car! No hidden gadgets, really easy to drive..etc!! lol!

We chose the kia sorrento over other 4x4s we looked at, including Landrovers (despite my husband knowing lots about landys), as the kia had won the JD Power best towing vehicle several times. It tows like a dream - a big, heavy Equitrek trailer. We are going back to a lorry, though, due to cost of the 4x4's upkeep (diesel and tax mainly), but tyres are also well over £400 for a full set.

I tow with a Shogun 3.2 SWB, its my second one, they are fantastic, and not that bad on diesel either. Would not buy another tow car ever. Had a first one which was a fairly basic one and have now treated myself to a top of the range Elegance. They are totally brilliant.

i toe with a LR defender 110 double cab pick up. l best thing ever (its even got heated seats

), not bad on consumption and is a dream to drive and doesnt even feel like ive got my big Equitrek on the back of it.
