What do you use to ride and lead?

I took my horses out together today with the reins through the bit ring on one side on the led horse as suggested by a friend (hope that makes sense basically like when u have a lunge line on a bridle when lunging but i connected the reins back together) but it seemed alittle short and i was abit concerned about my leg getting caught in the loop of the reins.what does everyone else use?

An in hand chain and a long lead rope -6ft.

I use a longer leadrope either through the bit rings like you did, or a pair of reins opened out over the head like you would lunge if the led horse is strong.

I have a long lead rope I thread through the bit ring to my side.

a longish rope. I find a standard leadrope a bit short sometimes, and a lungeline too long and cumbersome.

I would find the reins too short for comfort, unless it was an unexpected one off thing. (also would have concerns as you do of getting my foot through the loop somehow)
