What do you use under your stable bandages?

With Ronnie currently on box rest and bandaged to the hilt, his gamgee pads are getting very thin. I would like to use something longer-lasting, like the quilted ones you can buy - but how the HECK are you supposed to bandage over the top of them? I have the Premier Equine Pro-tector leg wraps, but they're so thick that:

a) Ronnie looks like he's grown elephant legs and that can't be comfortable;
b) I can't get the velcro on my stable bandages to meet to do up and my bandages aren't long enough full stop (they're normal average length).

Can anyone recommend any good under pads?

I have some black spongy ones - I'd love to know the name but my mum was sent off to the tack shop and came back with them...neither my sister nor I who really like them have seen anymore since.

But if your out shopping and see black material square ones which are not too thick and in a nice smooth material that shavings don't stick too I recommend them!!

I have these for under travelling bandages;

I really like them, they're not too puffy, but enough protection and with them being cotton they can be easily washed and come up like new.

I have the Roma equivalents to the Eskadron ones - half the price and not bad quality - got them in my local tack shop, I think they were about £10 for the set of 4 and I have had them for about 3 years and tey get a lot of use!
