Personally, I hate summer! boiling hot/sweaty/hay fever/flies just does not appeal to me! I've seen people ride in shorts and all I thought was ouch" and how awful my fat legs would look......

so what do you wear to the yard in summer and what do you ride in?

I just wear my Jodphurs, a sleeveless t short, my body protector and a very lightweight jacket. I can't ride with bare arms, at least if I fall of there is something between my skin ad the ground! If I am feeling brave and I am REALLY hot I will tie the jacket round my waist on a hack :-D

I ride in a strappy top, cropped jods (self cropped) and a pair of long leather boots. I could not ride with my legs uncovered as I am wary about stirrup leathers nipping.

Either jods and vest top/t-shirt, or shorts, short boots and vest/t-shirt or bikini top if Im feeling particularily brave/warm.

Depends on the horse :)

Not a good look if they are mucky though, and you ride bareback also...

Half a bottle of OFF lotion, jeans, long sleeved shirt and whatever boots are closest to the door.

Where I live it is extremely foolhardy to expose much skin, the flies are persistent, very large and have fangs :(

At the previous yard I wore as little as I felt like, my yard, not visible to anyone else. If I wanted to ride bareback in a strappy top and a pair of knickers I did. Sadly new school is overlooked by several houses and is open to the road and I really don't think it's kind to inflict that view on people passing. We'll have to see how hot it gets this year.

A yellow boob tube, pink sparkly hot pants, a hat with bunny ears, white riding boots... And a baby blue fluffy whip!

Safety purposes you know... Never had a van not slow down for me! :)

;)
:D

You forgot to mention the red fishnets

Ooo I tried that... it rubs a bit... :o:o:o

Tell you what tho... the cheap perfume (especially Britney Spears parfum) works a treat for flies!!! Most drop out the sky dead within a few feet of me.

I have been known to wear less... It's not a pretty sight :o

I wear a smile and a lorry load of Vaseline....
But seriously if Im riding I ride alot bare back and then its just a t-shirt and shorts - if tacked up I wear Jods, half chaps, a t-shirt that covers my shoulders, just me and old school xxx

Same as winter minus a coat normally.

Or minus both coats :p

I agree - jods, boots and chaps, gloves and usually a polo shirt. Don't like riding in anything sleeveless, never mind vest tops etc.

I do wear slightly thinner socks in summer, though.

Depending on how hot it is...
I am either in jods, a polo shirt, boots and half chaps or leggings, a singlet, boots and half chaps. If its that latter, it's normally up around the 35 degree mark and I am riding at 8pm as its to hot to ride beforehand!

Much the same as I wear in winter as it doesn't get very warm here in summer! I may wear a lighter jacket. Rarely is it warm enough to ride in a tee-shirt. Always wear jodhpurs. I'm off to Arizona next week where it will be warm and will wear jeans and a polo shirt and cowboy boots as will be western riding.

I wear my usual lycra running tights (dont wear jods), a technical running top because they are good at wicking, my back protector and light weight high viz cycling jacket!
I always ride at 6am so the temp is not usually too bad then for riding.

I find summer horsey clothes is more expensive than winter :/ I always get super hot and feel uncomfertable wearing strapy tops/ shorts on a busy yard

Always ride in jodhs, no matter how warm. In summer I sometimes wear short boots rather than my usual long boots.

On top I wear a polo shirt or t-shirt, never a vest. Most of the time I have a very lightweight windproof jacket that I wear too. It keeps the breeze off, gives me pockets and protects my arms. I don't wear it when it is really hot though.

I always ride in gloves but have some with an open weave string back and leather palm for summer.

I'm thinking of getting a vented hat for summer to minimise hat hair as my skull cap is very hot.

Is this wishful thinking that summer's round the corner? :p

When it's hot, 3/4 length trousers, boots (or short boots and mesh panel chaps), and a t-shirt / vest.

Love 3/4s for summer riding. Not too exposing but cool enough, plus I tend to stick trainers on / whip chaps off when not in the saddle.
