Our lil' mare is 16yrs old this year. She in full work, mainly dressage, jumping and cross country and she going better than ever. As long as she fit and heathly it will keep going that way.

Mine is 29. She's semi retired, and we do a bit of schooling and attempt to hack (ie, we get to the "scary thing", do a stop/drop/spin all in one movement and piaffe and passage all the way home). Aiming for some veterans showing this year, or maybe some walk/trot dressage.

My rising 20 year old has been hunting weekly until this season when I haven't been able to hunt, but I hope to continue hunting her next season if I am able as she is still as agile and athletic as she was when she was 4!

My just turned 19yr old anglo arab did high level dressage and some showing upto the age of 9 and then just hacked until i got him last October, bit of a waste as he has superb paces. I am aiming to do low level dressage and veteran classes with him this summer.

everything, well apart from driving.... we tried that last year it didnt go well

My 16 year old is going better than ever, doing everything she always has (although I have cut out jumping now more or less, not due to her age but due to her antics doing it and me never being overly into it either!). Its her in my sig (the horse not pony)

Friend's gelding is 27 (we think lol), he still gets ridden 4/5 times a week, does flatwork and hacking - he can only really go on level ground though because he's got slightly iffy feet and corrective shoeing. Apparently he can still let rip if you take him in a field though - he's an ex-racer.

Mine will be 15 this year, we'll still be happy hacking and doing a little bit of jumping - just faffing about really.

My 17 year old cob is doing pretty much what he did 5 years ago when I bought him. Hunting, hacking, schooling, bit of dressage, bit of Pony Club, spooking, bucking, spinning around and pissing off with mum .......

Still full of it!!!!!

my connie x is 19 this year and as young as ever, still getting ridden 6 times a week, sj through the winter and eventing lower level be through the summer

15 isnt an oldie

I do a bit of everything with my 16years young TB, he is starting to slow down a bit as he had a broken hock as a 4 year old and whilst out on loan last year ran through a cattle grid!!

Back to full fitness now so hoping to do some Veteran classes and a bit of XC, SJ, dressage, long distance rides this year along with lots of happy hacking and galloping!

He acts more like a 2 year old most of the time leaping around when taking him to the field (sometimes in a Chiffney!) He also does a mean bucking bronco when excited!

As Stencilface says mine is 19 this year - did RC HT champs last summer and I renewed his BSJA membership after a rather long break form it. I decided to have a crack at BE about 2 or 3 years ago and no he thinks he actually is an event horse! Sadly due to the extortionate cost of BE 'll stick to RC stuff!

This year he will be doing more of the same (albeing well) and we aim to do more RC eventing, some SJing and well, whatever comes up really! I am sure he'll let me know when and if he's had enough!

My 23/24 yo pony is still a bit looney and gets hacked out once or twice a week. Stopped competing him many years ago though mainly because I decided I wanted to live! Lol

Two weeks tomorrow, i'm riding my 17yr on a 4 day 85 mile ride along the Ridgeway.
The sunday prior to this, we are also entered in a 20km endurance ride.
We also do XC upto 2ft6 ish in summer/autumn - nothing serious, just for fun :-)

My 14yr is happy hack/lawn mower ...... due to a injury a couple years back!

Hopefully my 19 yr old is in foal, she was retired after a field accident, still mad and full of it. Might do some driving with her in the future.

Ron turns 16 this year and he's still hunting twice a week, and hacking out twice a week. In the summer he does a few events, a bit of show jumping (unaff) and a few dressage tests. I always think that they're better off working whilst they're fit and well!

29yo dartmoor still ridden 3/4 times a week by my toddlers, gives rides at local preschool faire 4 times a year & tarts at every avalible female (not fussy of species!!) i think he would cripple me within a month if i tried to retire him

Ebony is 26, she was going to go for meat last summer til I got her instead
smile.gif
She is in light work, we do about 30 mins 3 or 4 times a week. Hopefully we will be doing veteran showing this season, the aim for the year is to qualify for the VHS regional finals

My two old girls are both completely retired. The 29yo was never ridden anyway, was a broodmare all her life until her last foal at age 19, then she came to me to retire. The 25yo was retired about 5 years ago but simply because I didn't have the time to keep her working as well as starting and bringing on my three much younger geldings (alongside a full time and a part time job), otherwise she may well have still been in work nowadays. They're both as happy as Larry.

My 28yr old is now retired. But was out doing hunter trails and out on hound exercise etc in her early 20's.

One of the huntsmen was saying what a nice horse and once she grew up a bit and calmed down she'd be a good hunt horse. Until I pointed out she was 22!!

I have four over the age of 15 and they all do exactly as they did as five year olds, ride and drive.

I do exactly what I have always done with them if they show signs of not enjoying or stiffness then of course would slow down but I dont think 15 is even old

i've got a 19 year old, she would be doing everything- PC, XC, SJ and a bit of dressage but snapped the tendon off her hock year before last so is retired, hacking out and occasionally popping a jump
