Passed 3 stallions out hacking today - two greys who looked like Andalucians and a chestnut arab. Quiet little riding school mare who I was leading with a 5 yr old riding got a little...excited...when they started calling to her!

But the point of the post is...one of the Spanish looking ones was branded with an "S" in a circle - does anyone know what this means?

I haven't seen that brand before, as it is not a standard brand for breeds (or at least I don't think so) so perhaps it it their stud's brand?
Sorry I am no help just my thoughts on it.

It will likely be the brand of the farm that the horse was born at. All of the horses at my farm that are branded horses are either branded with their registered society or the personal farm brand.

If it were an American horse rather than a Spanish horse then the farm name would likely be Circle S Ranch.

The only 2 S brands I know are the Pferdezuchtverband Sachsen and Swedish Warmblood but Swedish Warmblood has a crownish shape above the S, I don't think i've seen an S in a circle before.

I've asked the same question as there's one at the RS and I really wanted to find out

Only idea that I got was it could be possible New Forest. Some of them when they come off the forest are branded with a S & a line in a circle

Some of the andulasian brands are quite detailed

Spanish (& Portuguese Lusos) are branded with a stud brand - what side was the brand on? spanish brand on the left flank, Lusos are branded on the right flank.

Each stud having a brand means that there are hundreds out there so its difficult to know exactly what stud it would be - it might be Susaeta as they send quite a lot over here...where abouts in the country are you?

A friends horse had an S brand. The mare was a registered and graded warmblood. Called Lexis S the S being from the line of horses she came from.
