What does it cost to be polite?!

Sorry to rant but just got back from a riding club show and had a bit of a run-in with one of the other competitors. We were finished and just getting the boy ready to go back onto the trailer when a large lorry drove in. My boy hates his boots/tail bandage being put on so was running away from me when this lorry started to reverse into us. I said to the passenger that we were leaving and that there was a space further down - the driver kept on reversing and nearly hit my horse and my dad. I then raised my voice a little (not a shout!) and said again that we were leaving and informed her that my horse was behind her lorry. With that she slammed it into first and drove off shouting at me through the window. I really don't think it was deserved - I was very polite to her. It's people like this that give riding a bad name.

Sorry to rant but just upset me so much how other people can be - we all want to enjoy our sport and what hope have we got getting others on side when there is people like that around?!

What did she expect you to do? Let her reverse into your horse and dad? Some people are so oblivious to everyone else its unreal! I probably would have gone and had a word with her. Stupid woman .

I sympathise with you dressagedivaz. Unfortunately, there seem to be a lot of people around these days who like to barge, push and shove their way through life like human bulldozers. The world would be so much nicer if everyone was polite and respectful towards others wouldn't it?

thanks - yes it would be a nicer place. It just gets me as people think that horse riders are all posh and stuck up! The reality is we all work hard to do a hobby we enjoy - people like that just let the side down!

She wants to thank herself lucky it wasnt me she did it too.

How ignorant to reverse that close to somebody elses horse just plain rude people like this should not be allowed to show up to competitions.

But how did you do anyway?

Some people just think they own the place!!! Last show i went to i had abit of a run in with someone. I had parked my trailer correctly allowing enough room between the next trailer for me to get my front ramp down when needed. I have to keep it up at the show as Inky is tiny and i just let him loose inside whilst we are there. I came to get him out and a massive lorry had squoze (sp?) inbetween us and the next trailer leaving about 1 metre gap for me to get the ramp down. When i asked them to move she said "well ive put my ramp down now ( at rear ) and it means ive got to put it up to move!!"... WTF!!!! Having replied politley "do you want me to unload my pony into your front cab?" she put up said ramp and moved swearing at me as she did so!!!

Well, glad to hear that you were doing well before the shoe came off! Hopefully the people in the lorry had a really bad time at the show - they deserved to after what how they behaved to you. Perhaps they were running late, but even so, to act like that is absolutely inexcusable.

I am sure some people or just born rude.

I am quite often dumb struck by rude people. I really do not understand what they hope to gain?

She was lucky it wasn't me either, you should hear my gob go when people pee me off when I am out

An old boy drove past us last weekend and so nearly hit us. It was a tiny country lane, we could not get up the bank any further and he drove past doing 30mph, frightened the life out of Crop and almost hit her bum

He had more that a few F's screamed at him I can tell you
