What does it mean when your numnah slips back?

No, it's a all wool numed high wither with my WOW dressage saddle.
It could be that I'm not doing up my girth tightly enough

; or could it be that he's got some more muscle over his shoulder/ wither thats pushing it back (i.e. I need my saddle checking)
Just don't know! I was going to get the saddle checked soon But the fitter said to give it another couple of weeks- give him chance to develop.

I have found that if my numnah/saddle cloth starts slipping my saddle has normally needed adjusting. I have always found that unless I'm jumping even if my girth is a little on the loose side, then neither my saddle or numnah move when it is a good fit.
 
Mine used to slip, but then it always did with this horse. He just has such a big action in front that his shoulders seem to force normal saddlecloths back (tried thin cotton ones, polypads, "sticky" ones, suede ones etc.) - finally found the Stephens sheepsking saddlecloth fits like a glove. The big bit of sheepskin at the front keeps it from going under! So I guess, if you keep havign this problem then try one of these saddlecloths?

Interesting; My dressage numnah doesn't have a wool collar (it slips) my jumping numnah (in my siggy) does have a collar, and didn't slip last night! They are the same numnah just diffrent styles.
 
sounds like your WOW needs adjusting, your horse may well have changed shape just enough for the numnah to go on the slip! I have had a couple of my clients with a similar porblem and either change of air or headplate sorted out their slipping numnahs. Horses change shape a fair bit at this time of year as the spring grass comes through, work levels change etc.
