Just a quickie really :)

Lyla pulled a shoe on Saturday , farrier came yesterday to re-fit :D. I found the shoe in the field so didn't need a replacement, just a straight put the shoe back on ... (3 weeks since last done, 3 weeks till next appointment)

What would you expect to pay ??

Thanks! :D

My baby horse regularly pulls shoes off! It is ridiculous!

At first he would charge £10 to put it back on, now he does it for free as long as he's passing and doesn't have to make a specific trip ie, coming to shoe another horse on the yard (sometimes I've got to wait two-three days though. If he has to come out just for me (usually friday afternoon before competing sat/sunday) .

Mine's shod religeously every 5 weeks and if a shoe comes off in the field (invariable in the mud as she's mucking about) the farrier will refit for free, when he's next passing. I can leave my mare in and he'll attend to her in my absence which really helps. My farrier is ace. :)

If recently shod - nothing. Otherwise he just charges £10 . Never found any of the shoes our boy has lost but has only ever lost them in the field.

Just had a shoe back on today and it was free; but when they are reshod I usually add a fiver on top just to keep 'em sweet

OP - are you going to let us know how much you were charged then? Tell all!

Autumn - I was charged £20 with shoe  and thought it was a bit expensive

Only Ludoctro beats me!!! £30 !!! OMG :eek::eek:

I've thought about finding another farrier, I do like my current one, he is good (was recommended by vet many years ago now) and is very reliable. BUT he is expensive. I guess I am paying for the reliability and quality of work which I don't mind...

BUT after her being in for a week from the snow (think extra bedding extra haylage) it all adds up and just another £20 to find on top of that  and as a loyal customer of 8 years it just rubbed a bit

ps - I wasn't expecting it for free but £20 ?? Ho hum, good job I like beans on toast eh

Free. Even if if i have lost the shoe i have a box of spares so there is always something to fit if necessary. He even came out after hunting on Christmas Eve to tighten lose shoe on mine and checked the other ones shoes ready for Boxing Day. He is a star!

Sorry I was wrong just checked a old bill not £30. - it's £34

Very steep it seems..!

I'm £89 for a set of shoes

If its within 2 weeks of them been shod he doesn't charge, if its after 2 weeks he charges £5 although sometimes doesn't charge at all.

We can also leave our horses in and he will shoe them without anyone else there, then we just pay him next time he comes out :)
