I have been using GlobalHerbs Tendoneaze and i have now run out, my parents are not too impressed at the price of the supplements so ideally i need something that is going to last ages or be cheaper. I understand that MSM is essential and have read that hydrolyzed collagen is also important- although i cant find a supplement that is not either just msm or msm and glucosamine- without the collagen!

any reccomendations? and of course any more info to add to my basic knowledge?

thankyou.

yes she is on rest, she was on 6 weeks box rest but is now on her 7th week due to the ice and snow (and also taking off bucking whilst i tried to in hand walk her one time- so i feel she may need longer)

thanks, i just want to give her the best chance- next thing to look at is barefoot

oh and just wondering, to the above post- what injury did your horse have and has your horse recovered?

rest rest rest rest rest

mine had
MSM
Jelly (for the gelatin) or gelatin sachets
hoof supplement -also a balancer Formula 4 feet
wedges on feet then barehoof.
cartrophen injections
and a bit more rest.
and then some more.:D

My mare had the rest, remedial shoeing (shes on her last set of egg bar shoes now) the in hand walking and the ridden work before going out in the field. All through this time she has been having NAF MSM and will continue to do so indefinitely. I do believe that it has helped her as it is designed for tendons and soft tissue.

Mine had the joint supplement from the vet, which had MSM, Glucosaime & chondrotin. I also gave blue chip dynamic.

Together with the operation, and very strict regime after (6months box rest with controlled exercise twice daily), he's now had the all clear to resume normal work.

Good luck with yours, I would spend the money again and give him the best chance, as the main thing is that I have my horse back!

thanks for the replies- looking at gold label products atm, any thoughts on those? would you reccomend the glucosamine? there is the glucosamine and msm product but would this deliver less msm to the horse in the dosage? she is in her egg bars atm with raised heel- going to be reducing them gradually then once she is down to a normal shoe think about barefoot. its such a long process- apparently there is talk of artifical tendons in the future! wish they'd hurry up!

Personally I would go with the Naf MSM. Give their advice tel line a ring for some help, they were very helpful when I spoke to them and didnt push their products.

Another vote for Naf msm - glucoamine is more for joint related problems.

My lad had a hind tendon injury and had this, coupled with cold therapy and rest, rest and more rest. It took 18mnths before he was back in full work, but has been sound and back hunting for 3 seasons now.

Good luck!

Shame its so expensive, it really does add up over the months but it looks like you have to feed less of the pure msm than the mixture eg. tendoneaze so i guess its worth it! she has a mobility lick too, i try my best to 'rest' her but she keeps throwing in bucks whilst 'walking' :/ hasnt caused any heat or lameness so far so i hope it hasnt damaged her too much... meant to have started turnout a week ago but i think i'll box rest until the ice has gone for sure
