Just out of interest, do you do anything other than horse riding/mucking out etc to keep fit? Eg running, go to the gym, swimming, etc? Do you feel horse related activities keep you fit enough?

I don't do anything other than riding and mucking out but could probably do with being fitter but just dont have the time.

I should do... I'm planning to take up power walking once the evenings get light enough, and take Harry with me

Will be good exercise for both of us me thinks!

I don't have time for anything else... 9 horses keep you pretty fit! I used to swim a lot, did lifesaving but gave that up when I started spending more time with the gee gees

Running, I even went out 6:30 this morning in the rain

but hey ho no broken bones, always a bonus.

Gym, swimming, and dog walking on top of mucking out & riding (albeit riding only weekends til clocks change).
Am absolutely knackered & I should be about 6 stone but for some reason I'm not so I keep going & working harder etc etc vicious circle I think it's called!!!!!!

Apart from mucking out 4 horses and riding 2 or 3 of them, Ballroom & Latin dancing 2 or 3 times a week and dog agility (big dogs, have to run!) Used to swim at lunchtimes until the pool started having aquatots in so no room for me!

Other than the usual, humping tons of hay around, and walking the 25m to the barn to get the quad I'm a lazy mare.

Although it is log hauling season for us at the moment (ground is hard and I don't get the blood sucked out of me by damn mosquitos) so that means I am hauling trees out of the forest, chopping them, lifting them into the trailer, unloading them at the other end, then picking them up, sticking them in the log splitter, then chucking them to the end of the shed, then stacking them. I've got the most disgusting set of biceps.

Walking through deep snow in heavy clothing with thermal boots on is probably good for something too, I have no idea what though, it generally just knackers my knees!

Pole dancing, purely for fitness

Great for core strength and general flexilibity.

Cannot do the gym, feel like a hamster on a wheel, too artificial! Need some dancing and music, or at least fresh air and countryside, to inspire me to do any exercise.

Not at the moment, but for a while I did some (rather extremely fast O.o) power walking on the treadmill which was great! Not got time at the minute though, but I do power walk around school and get everywhere extremely fast (am always on time for lessons!

I cycle to the yard, swim sporadically and (very) occasionally go to the gym if asked to accompany a friend. My little sister does 40 sit ups on a morning and I sometimes do them with her too, though I wish Ihadn't for the rest of the day!

So not a huge ammount apart from the pony and, although I die after about 20m of sprinting I can do rising trot for miles and miles!

I do roughly 20 minutes of stretches/pilates 4 or 5 times a week. Dog agility on a Thursday for an hour but that is that much exercise and walking the dogs half an hour every day - mum does the other walk.
