Hi there, so as its coming into my first proper winter with my mare I'm trying to decide what to feed her, as this is the first winter she'll be worked, and usually loses a bit of condition over the winter, which ideally I dont want to happen too much as she's at a good weight now, little over ideal, also she can be a bit stressy. So want something that will keep condition on but not give fizz?

Anyways, i currently feed hi fi lite with a supplement.
Going to add in speedibeet

But not sure what mix to get, ideally want something low in sugar and starch, high in fibre and not too expensive

These are what I was looking at:
Dodson & Horrell Pasture mix
Spillers Cool Mix
Baileys high fibre mix

Any ideas please?

I would stick to the Speedibeet tbh. If she loses weight then add oil rather than a mix, they all have sugar in. Micronised Linseed is very good for the coat/hooves and joints as well as condition

The best way of finding a good feed is reading the labels :) Anything with a combined sugar and starch % higher than 10 is too high. That rules out all the feeds you were thinking of ;)

Molglo is mollasses - something lots of people dont know
Laminitis Trust stamps do NOT mean the feed is unmolassed or good for feet - just means they paid a lot of money for the sponsorship!

Id start off just adding a cup of micronised linseed to the speedibeat and leave it at that. If she lost any weight id add half a cup of live oats, these are non heating, if you make your own feeds you dont have to worry what crap the feed companies have put in!

Hi. i feed balanced n hance or happy feet and its done wanders for mine. I like knowing that it has a full compliment of vits, mins and micronutrients and only uses top quality ingredients.

ps, n hance also has magnesium for calming if she is stressy! I have had some bad experiences with cool and pasture mix but every horse is different!
