What feed to use when feeding turmeric

I've just started my horse on turmeric to see if it helps his stiffness (see previous thread), and at the moment I'm mixing that plus the pepper and oil into a (very) small handful of pony nuts that I have left over.
These are almost used up so am trying to decide what's best to feed him. He's a very good doer and I'm only going to give him a tiny amount just to put the turmeric in, as he won't eat the mixture on its own.
Any suggestions are welcome, thanks!
 
Hi Izzy , if you are on facebook then join the turmeric user group , I make treats for the horses so that they can have those during the summer as most arent fed. You can make a load and freeze them so easy to dish out as you need . Good luck and I hope you have as much success. PM me if you want and I can try and get a recipe for you
 
I started Rio on it today with some fibrebeet and he gobbled it right up! Dont need an awful lot and it sticks to it instead of pellets and nuggets
 
The only reason I didn't use Baileys Lo cal or Spillers Lite is they both have molasses in.

After a read of all the bags in my local tack shop I found that the Top Spec didn't. I would rather have used a cheaper one!

My other 2 have Saracen Shape Up. That has molasses too though.
 
Fast fibre for me. Mine gets a lot of powdered supplements and doesnt need ANY calories! So I use a handful of fast fibre as it seems to mix them all in really well :)

I have had my girl on this for two years now its great. Before because she is an Irish Draught x Hippo, she was on good doer but only a pinch in the summer and not that much in the winter. So in effect she was not getting the correct amount of Vits and Mins, now she get the correct amount of feed with everything that she needs it keeps the weight under control and is easy to feed, I also put the turmeric straight into this. She gets a cup in the morning one in the evening and a cup in her treat ball overnight. If the feed merchant does not give you the cup to measure it out give them a ring and they will send you one out.
