One of my liveries lost her much loved pony three days ago. She rang abattoir to arrange disposal but then decided on vet putting to sleep by injection (to which she'd previously been opposed but which went well, pony simply sank to her knees and went down quietly and peacefully) plus pet crematorium because, when she discussed disposal with abattoir, they offered cremation or "recycling" and they said carcasses go for pet food or to local zoo. She had no intention of going down this route but asked out of curiosity. She said that the pony was stuffed full of medication (bute and pergolide) and had been for years, but abattoir was fine with that.......SO......what goes into our pet food??? My dogs had been on raw from local butcher for several years but, being unable to get to butcher, they've been on tins and biscuit since just before Christmas. My prioriity now is to get back to my butcher for "left overs"! SO......what goes into pet food???

Cereal, carcinogenics, E numbers, fillers like the waste from sugar beet. Mistletoe, which is highly poisonous. Floor sweepings.

:biggrin3: Well, you asked! I did and still do loads of research into this and it's horrifying. :frown3:
