I want to get a rough idea of what I want for when the saddler comes next week.

Do you have a GP saddle? If so what is it and do you like it or loathe it!

I've got two Albions by mistake, they were just the ones which fitted the ponies best...and I love them. They put your seat in the right place, have good supporting knee rolls and the ponies move very freely under them.

I have a Fieldhouse.
It was the one that fitted her and me the best

Saddle fitter came with a truckload, measured the horse, then tried them all on, whittled it down to 3 which I then rode her in and decided on the one, and then found out it was the middle priced one (which I thought was fair!)

We have an Ideal which I love but my daughter hates. She reckons it tips her forward. We also have a really old Coleman Croft one, which is flat as a pancake so not very secure for jumping, but is very comfy for hacking- as long as you're not going down hill!!It's so flat, you slide off!!

We also have an Albion jumping saddle, which is incredibly comfy and we both love it and use it daily!

I've got a L & R which I love but horse changed shape so no good any more, gone back to my old Albion, had it re-flocked and it fits him a treat and is very comfy for both of us, also have a brand new Thorogood dressage saddle & a wintec that I'm going to sell as I just don't get on with synthetic saddles.....that's just my choice as I know lots of people love them

Did have a antill gp on on my old mare, as she was so wide! fitted nicely and was very comfortable especially to hunt in all day. However moved on to my nice close-contact jumpy ones now

I have a Stubben Siegfried GP and a Trainers Borel.

The Stubben is rather heavy and the seat is a bit hard, other than that, I have no probs with it.

I love the Trainers, its very light, close contact and a bit more forward cut than most GPs. It's soft and comfy and I love the leather (the sort that is pitted) and the colour, mid brown on top with tan pannels. It has no thigh rolls (I hate them!)

These saddles suit me as I don't like big, chunky saddles as I have rather short legs!

I have a Wintec 500 in brown that has just been replaced by a Jefferies Falcon Hawk Event saddle! I do love the wintec but it has to go

Stubben VSD made with extra long leg flaps and I love it, however wish I had had it made in dark brown rather than havanna leather as I can't use it in the showring.

I have a Stirlingshire WH saddle - very nice, slim and looks good for showing...very soft leather, nice and comfy....

....BUT my lad changes shape regularly- drops condition easily....so I am thinking about getting another wintec with the adjustable gullet......did have one, and like an arse I sold it.

So...cheap brown wintec 17" please anyone?

I have a Morris & Nolan saddle, think the style is called Connemara (may just be a pony saddle come to think of it). I love it - it was 3 months old when I got it and was included with the pony. Very comfy, seems to last well as I ride a lot across the year and *whispers* don't clean it regularly enough. I have had to have odd bits of stitching redone and one reflock in the nearly 6 years I've had it.

I have an Aztec Inca..changeable gullets. It only cost about, I dunno, £200, along with a pessoa bridle (good as new) and mark todd tendon and fetlock boots, also in really good condition

sooo the saddle was pretty cheap..I don't mind it..its not uncomfy, but it does very little for your position.

ANd people used to riding in well made, well known saddles find it horrible

hahah but it does the job.
