So having thought that I'd been accepted for the Munstead Intro, I have just looked and found out that I've been balloted.

I am really annoyed as this is my first BE event, and I have GCSEs soon so I have a very short time period in which I am able to compete.

I wanted to know if I'm balloted is it pretty definite that I won't be competing? Need to know as there's no point in me preparing for it and I don't really understand this whole balloting thing.
Looked on the BE website but it wasnt much help, just talked about the ballot stickers.
So if you are balloted there is basically nothing you can do, unless someone withdraws?

If you're balloted then thats it, def no eventing.
Some events keep a waitlist but it'll say if you've been waitlisted and if so, you'll have a slim chance of getting in.
Are you on a ticket?

Unfortunately you def won't be competing if you've been balloted, I'm guessing you didn't use a sticker? If you and sunny are registered instead of just competing on a ticket then make sure you use a ballot sticker next time to lessen the chance of the same thing happening.

Just seen that you did use a sticker, in that case it will become a super special entry so you def won't get balloted at your next event.

If you email them and offer your services/your parent's services as a fence judge in exchange for a slot they may be nice and let you in.

Worth a try!!

Another question- just wondered if anyone has offered to help in order to get a place before at an event, and if so does it actually work?
On the site they advertise that they need jump judges, so hoping this may work.

Worth a go - it's up to the event at the end of the day. I wish BE would make it more official. I help at 5 or 6 events a year - but not the ones I want to compete at so doesn't get me anywhere when it comes to entries and the way I feel at the moment I'm not sure why I do. Though I'll calm down and I do enjoy helping too so I'll carry on for me and the friends I do it for

I have just emailed them, at least I can offer them the services of two people, not just one, which may help.
My first experience of eventing is not turning out very well

yep thats what got me in for munstead last year. athough i said i'd help on the entry form, so before the ballot. but rebecca is very understanding and helpful so i'm sure if u explain the situation and offer your services she'll do her best to fit u in if possible.

it seems to me that at most events if u either offer to help or do day before dressage you're virtually guaranteed not to get balloted if u dont use a sticker.
