Just curious what the eventers in particular are doing with their horses at the minute! I'm still taking advantage of no snow and have hacked both mine to the gallops and had a good, long steady canter and plan on doing the same tomorrow. They'll have an enforced day off on Saturday as i'll be at the races then we've got jumping lessons Sunday. You?

Mine have only been back in work for 2.5 weeks due to snow so we are trotting up hills, lots of hills.

The 5 year old was in full work before the snow started so only had 4 weeks off. He was out jumping on Tues and flat work lesson on Wed so he had today off.

Luckily Toto was only off for 2 weeks due to snow, and he was out everyday, so he lost hardly any fitness. Took it easy for several days and he's back in proper work now

I did some jumping yesterday and my sister rode him today, I might try and find a sj comp in Feb

Took advanced horse (who I am exercising before she goes back to proffessionals) on an hours hack with a couple of long canters. Most days she goes out for an hour and some days when I come back we go in the school for 10mins. I wish she was mine lol, she is ace. Others horses are just going on walking hacks as they have had a few months off before we start back in the school.

6 yr old had an easy time due to weather over new year. Now preparing for season. Dressage last Sunday won both classes, 74.6% in one novice test. Jumped on Tuesday. 4yr old just starting work, jumped 1st X pole today.

Somebody else hacked one of my two out for me this morning and they were jumped yesterday in total they are getting 2 hacks and 3 schooling sessions p/week atm. Next week it will hopefully be light enough to ride when I get back from school and they should be getting ridden an extra 2 times a week each so will get 2 schooling, 2 hacking, a lesson and 2 jumping/mixed schooling per week.

mine had 3 weeks off and been back in work for 3 weeks. i went to farm ride sunday, sj lesson tuesday, weds and thurs off and then will lunge tomorro. dressage lesson sat and arena eventing sun....V is 5

T was schooled for 30mins.
Ginger pony hacked for 30mins ish, walking and trotting.
Heffa had a 45/50min hack with some canter work and a long trot uphill.
Baby pony [4yo] had a day off, but has had a 35/40min hack [walking, trotting, and twice a canter] every day since Sunday.

One went for a walk hack as he is only just coming back into work after injury.

The other had a nice hard schooling session and began to learn how to do shoulder in, she is 4, rising 5 and this will be her first season eventing. Tomorrow she will go back in the school and reinforce what she learnt today, then go for a gentle amble down the lane to cool off if it is light enough still

6 year old back in work nearly 2 weeks after being off since 12th dec!
chucked her exercise sheet on after work and we did some basic flat work in the school for 30mins in the howling wind and rain...
got 2 prelims on sat and tbh we've not really done much to prepare....

im not an eventer...BUT im going to post on here anyway
grin.gif
(because im annoying like that
smirk.gif
lol).

MONTY: mum took him for a fast hack, lots of trotting up and down hills etc to keep him ticking over for the rest of the hunting season and for hunter trials coming up in spring.

BUGSY: i did flatwork with him today, 40mins. He was lovely, really soft, balanced, taking the contact and working from behind - did some lateral work, turning and serpentines etc, and did a figure of 8 in canter with flying changes at X, he found that very exciting
smirk.gif
haha

DANI: did 20minutes flatwork with him, concentrating on getting him to accept the outside contact and balance himself more. then did some gridwork...a very short 1 stride, and then some bounces to get him to sit back on his hocks and use himself properly.

grin.gif
was a good day! xx

7yo mare, off since before xmas back was fully fit then, back in work for 3 weeks. Hacked 35 minutes, jumped for 15 as she was still bouncing off the walls!

Im not an eventer either, but Im still important and our horse was amazing tonight.

Rode Shiney, did shoulder in in walk, then troted out onto a 15metre cirlce - on both reins. Then did some half pass in walk - Shiney is teaching me! Then I finished off doing leg yeild in canter.

Not bad for a 23 year old show Cob!! mmm.

took my rising 5yrold jumping today for the 1st time,,,,,, was interesting to say the least 2nd week back in work after 3 weeks off!!! he loved it too much!!!!!!!!!!!

Did 40 mins of stressage this morning before uni, same yesterday as have dressage lesson on Sat.

She is hacking twice a week, lots of canter work and hill work as she only had 10 days off over christmas, dressage 3/4 times a week and a jumping session once a week but I will sometimes jump when I'm back from a hack.

She is a horse who likes to work though so she gets a day off once a fornight only.

not an eventer either buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut...

...my boy did nothing as he has been foot perfect all week and he is only 5 so no point thrashing him with work. the shoulder in and travers are maintaining a good rhythm now and we can do trot half pass, hurrah!
so he had all his fuzzy edges trimmed up and his mane washed, and a hot cloth all over, as we have a lesson on sat (ah the joys of a brown horse, wash it thur and by sat its still immaculate!!!)

the schooling livery did 30 mins with me up and then a 30min lesson with her mum back on board.was a good girl, taking the contact forward and down more and far less mad leaping in canter!!!

Mr Fugly (rising 5) had his first proper day hunting yesterday. Went with a few folk to visit a neighbouring pack. My lift home was with our whip so the poor chap had to stay out all day. He had a XC schooling session involving jumping into water, jumping out of water, jumping gutters, emergency avoidance manoeuvres when cut up at a fence
mad.gif
, hopping up and down banks, crossing narrow footbridges over fast-flowing torrents, jumping rails out of a foot of mud and jumping trappy little fences with ditches full of running water on the take off/landing sides. There was also a bit of lateral work plus some steady fitness work and a couple of sprints
tongue.gif

Consequently he has spent this morning out in the field telling the other horses how clever he is ('yeah, whatever'
smirk.gif
) and the afternoon curled up asleep in his stable within easy reach of his haynet.

Another non-eventer here but anyway...

Chilli did 15mins flatwork then we had a play over a fence. It's the first time we've jumped in about 4weeks & he was very lively.
grin.gif
I really should have been just schooling 'cos I'm doing dressage (2 Prelims) on Sunday but I was planning on having a day off today 'cos my dressage instructor was gonna ride him for me but he didn't have time so I had to ride & the jump was allready in the school & I couldn't resist it.

I'm hopefully eventing this year, so I'll post...
Today I didn't get to ride. Didn't think I'd have time before Mum finished work (I really need to take my driving test so she doesn't need to fetch me!) so I trimmed his tail and pulled his mane instead until my fingers bled - it hasn't been done since about August
blush.gif

As it was, I would've had time anyway, but oh well. He's been ridden most days this week and is a bit too fit/crazy at the minute!

wannabee showjumper here had her horses teeth done today by VictoriaEDT on here, very pleased. Then lunged the big brown in vienna reins and was so pleased with him, and did 40 mins of active roadwork on the frantic ginger one in a headcollar haha! Lunging the girly , may school and think the BB needs to hack tomo..headcollar maybe!!

Lucky 4 rising 5 eventer/SJer/general pain in the ass got lunged yesterday, the same as the day before, and the day before that... we are playing "get Lucky bored in the school" as she thinks the school is oh so scary at the moment... so she is getting lunged or loing reined in there everyday at the moment! We went for a quick hack round the village this morning, which was slightly fast and furious, but generally very good and forward
smile.gif
Think she was relieved to be out the school
wink.gif

She is little miss hyper at the moment, so after full MOT next week will be worked 2x daily where possible, with a mixture of lunging/long reining/schooling/hacking and pole work all in short session of about 20mins at time
smirk.gif

Aw i'm glad some 'non-eventers' replied too - didn't mean to make it sound like 'only eventers need reply'!!
grin.gif
Sounds like everyone's busy at the moment then. I always find it interesting reading what everyone's been up to with their horses, so thanks for all your replies

Polo-hopefully-soon-to-be-eventer went hunting last monday (fully day - 6hrs
shocked.gif
) and hasn't been ridden since as he's covered in lumps, very annoying and serves me right
blush.gif
. Up until then he was either schooling for 45mins, hacking round the village or cantering for 20mins on the exercise track.
