What have yours all had in common?

It occured to me tonight that of the 4 horses that I have owned over the years, every single one of them has cantered to the field gate when called which is a funny coincidence.

What do yours have in common, if anything?

Mine have all been ambivalent to me, like when I come out of the house it may or may not be for them. They have never bothered heading to the gate until called.

And manners is also an excellent answer @Rowreach. I expect the same from my Welsh A as I did my big sports horses.

And they’re geldings. I don’t do mares (sorry to any die hard mare lovers!).

Nothing … seriously I have had Welsh cobs, hairy cobs, kwpns, shetlands, mares geldings and a stallion… the only thing I haven’t had is a true heavy horse (had an id) and a thoroughbred (but I have had an Anglo Arab)

I’m considering a lusitano as my next purchase (as long as I can find a bay one so my hubby doesn’t notice the extra!)

Me either.. people that have to feed their horses for weight gain is mind blowing. 😂 I guess we have the cheaper end of the scale, but muzzles.. they’re expensive!

My 18.3hh warmblood eat a large rectangle £50 bale of hay, to himself, every 10-14 days - and he was turned out 10 hours a day in winter and overnight in summer.
He also had a stubbs scoop of grass chaff, a beaker of copra and another stubbs scoop of alfalfa pellets twice a day! It was certainly stress free as you just funnel into them whatever they will eat, but it definitely does add up. 🤣

Mares. And I think that would be the only similarity in them. 😂 They’ve all been so different, although all brave in their own ways.

Noooo, they aren't supposed to be nearly 17 hands. Good luck keeping that sound.
.

You're quite right, Matt Harnacke has a thing for a big PREs and he has lameness issue after lameness issue from the bits I see on Facebook. He is a big hunk of a handsome stallion though you have to admit.

All walking vet bills! Also all supposedly 14.2 (I suspect the Irish bog pony may have had to stand on his tiptoes!)

Another with walking vet bills. So much so that I don’t actually think I dare have another when the Highland goes which probably won’t be for ages anyway! I must have paid out £15k in 15 years! At least!
