I am going to look at this cob to possibly buy. He will be 3yrs old in April. He is 12.2hh right now. Dam is 13.2hh & Sire is 14hh. What height do you think he should reach? I am only 5 foot 1

Looks like a nice cob. Difficult to estimate height but I would probably Guess at 13hh. If you're worried about height I wouldn't worry too much as he will likely fill out and carry a taller rider. One of my fell ponies is 12.2 and three next April and I'm trying to guess what he is going to make

We bought him! Just getting him gelded and heal before we bring him to his new yard. :) Think we are going to name him Monty. Not sure yet tho! Other names we thought of are Ricco & Tonto

Congratulations. Exciting. Good luck with him and I'm sure you'll have loads of fun together. Monty is a great name. Does his sire have a registered name?

We got him on Sunday. I wanted to bath him but it's been to cold so I've just brushed and cleaned him up the best I could. Took so long to get all the knots out his mane and tail! I'm gonna wash his legs and tail tomorrow. He is measuring around 12.2-12.3hh. Really hoping he grows at least another hand. He will be three in May. He has a quiet and friendly temperament. We love him. We decided to name him Tonto. He looks pretty level in that photo so wouldn't expect him to get much bigger to be honest Kitten is 3 last day of May 2021 and currently is 13.2 dont expect her to make more than 14hh2.5.jpg

What a cutie!

I would think he will grow a few more inches yet so don't panic - I bought my cob at 4yrs old, measured at 14.1hh and by the time he was 6yrs, he had made 15hh!

So plenty of time yet.....he could easily make 13.2hh plus so spot on for your height.

There’s only one way to guarantee your horse will grow bigger , and that’s to hope he stays the same size . It’s called Sod’s law ?
He looks very sweet , and no doubt has a bit more growing to do . He should get over the 13hd in theory . Good luck with him .

A least he won’t get any smeller. He does look small for 2 year old but he is not bum high I say he has very little growing left unfortunately I say he would be lucky to Get to 13.3-14 hands .

He looks soooo much better in these photos. I think he will make 13hh but he will be grand for your hieght. It's a bit of a how long is a piece of string scenario though, I had a cob grow two inches after he turned four and we thought he'd stopped growing.

I just measured him the best I could with a tape measure and it's saying he is only 49", that's from the ground to the top of his withers. So he is measuring smaller than what I was told he was (previous owner said he measured 12.2-12.3hh). Oh well. Like allot of you said even if he only reaches around 13hh he should be big enough.
