What height will he make?

I have a 13hh cob and he is 2 years 10 months. I bought him when he was 2 years 5 months. And I thaugh he would make at least 14hh so I can ride him when I break him because I am 5"6. He doesn't seem to have changed much but he had a bad start will this effect his growing? When do horses usually stop growing?

A good indication is to do the string test. You should only do this once they are past their first birthday as their leg length is pretty much finished then and the rest of the growth comes from the deepening girth. Take a piece of string/baler twine and hold it at the middle of one of his front fetlocks and straight up to level with his elbow. Then let go of the fetlock end but keep your finger on the string where it measured to, keep the other end on the elbow and rotate the bottom of the string so that it is now vertical above his withers. Then measure the difference in the string between his current wither and where your fingers are. This will give you a good clue to final height, give or take an inch for discrepancy...
