hi thinking of changing the oldie box and was wondering if any of the HHO's out there with the larger model (horse wise) travel theirs in. so the beast in question is a wide clydey cross about 16.2, i was wondering about the stability in the smaller lorry with a side ramp on a 6 ton. they might fit in size wise but would the box be stable?

Cant help with the stability issue but we currently have a 7.5T Kevin Parker Helios lorry with a 2.1T payload for our lot. One of ours is an elephant - 17.2 at last check (possibly has gone up a little bit since then) and just below 700kg. Our other two aren't exactly what you'd call dainty either - a 16.2 at 560kg and a 16.3 at 620kg.

we're upgrading to a 12T Helios (5.8T payload i think?) so we're not constantly worrying about being overweight if we want to take all three. obviously we can only take two at the moment because Beau is so big.

ETA: I know someone with a 16.2 chunky monkey who has a 3.5T malborough side-loader and they've not had any issues with it being unstable, if that helps.

OP - I am currently changing wagons too, but we also have a small two horse 6.0tonne. we only use it for the TB pointers, I tried it with my (admittedly huge) 17.2 eventer (IDxWB) and one TB and I sweated the whole journey - it was noticeably down a little bit the side the big boy stood, and it struggled uphill. Perfect for the TB's though.

A Mercedes 1314 that has the same unladen weight as most 7.5t, so about 8t payload. The layout means we can take up to 5 but we never need more than 3. We wanted to be able to take 3 without worrying about weight which is almost impossible with a 7.5t.
