I've just come down from the Attic..I was rummaging for some info from back in 1977..yes, i am that old!..when i found a letter from Uplands, Lambourn...

It was from Fred Winters yard..asking me to go along for an interview for Stable Lad..I was 15 ATT...

2 weeks later, I was in hospital on traction after a horrendous riding accident.

Certainly got me thinking...What If...

It got me thinking what i'd be doing now ...

I'm sure many of us on here have a "What If"....

What if...

...I hadn't given up horses to go to uni.

I'm riding again now, but apart from a short gap had the best part of 15 years out. During that time, my only regret (I don't really believe in them) was giving up Arctic, my share horse.

I'm the same age and it was at about that time I was giving up ponies as I hadn't been able to afford to move on to horses, I was also about to drop out from doing my four A levels which would have enabled me to choose whether to do medicine, vet med or engineering. Next career move - marketing gardening until I discovered I was allergic to tomatoes, the main crop grown.

Bit of a Tom Boy even then?:D

I think most people have many 'what ifs' especially as they get older and think on things, me included. It's the 'if onlys' that I tend to dwell on more having now, in hindsight, more experience on life. :)

What if my sister hadn't pulled our ponies tail (which resulted in her being kicked in face and pony sold!!), I'd not be such a crap rider now and still falling off as it was 26 years later I got my next pony lol x

I'd have been damn good if I'd been riding 30 years now :D
