I no off quite a few insurance companies that if you claim you have to pay the vet fees first and when they eventually sort it you get the check ....

Now what insurance companies dont?
Was looking at pet plan, nfu?
Not even touching e&l
What others to look at?

Been with NFU for years, and made a claim this year for the first time - they gave me the option of paying vets directly.

It did take them forever to process the claim though, had to chase them a lot, paperwork lost etc.

Not sure about any of the others, will be shopping around when I come to renew, so will keep an eye on this thread :)

I've experience with Towergate and KBIS and can recommend both. They both paid up straightaway and didn't need me to pay the vet's bill before I got the money.

Petplan has paid the best part of £10k in vet's fees for my mare in the last year (over two claims) without any fuss. She is twenty one and will still be insured for illnesses until she is twenty five. I also just got my renewal, opened it with dread thinking that there would be a big increase after all the claims this year and yes there was an exclusion (well two actually, one for the hocks and one for her fetlock) for the different sorts of arthritis - but there was no increase in cost. Even the exclusion is reasonable - they've just excluded spavins and LH fetlock arthritis - not everywhere in her body which I have heard of some companies (not sure which) doing.
I pay £36 a month.
