As far as I am aware is the 1 Jan - whether TB or not is when you age them from.

This applies to all disclipines - hence Stinky is now shown as a 4 year old even though he is not 4 until end of June. I am probably also going to do a walk and trot dressage test in March, again I am not breaking any rules as they take his age from 1 Jan - which is on his passport so he is technically now a 4 year old.

Any competition horse is supposed to change age on 1st Jan each year regardless of whether it is a T.B. as I found out when I looked it up on the net a few years ago to settle a debate about a horse that was for sale.

I thought the same as TF.Used to be 1st for TB's only but can't remember when it changed.
If you look at insurance docs/bsja its 1st Jan they appear to use as well regardless what breed horse/pony is.

I know that for showing purposes it is 1st Jan as with TB's, not sure about the rest but PIO's who have no known DOB usually put Jan 1st too.
