How much could I expect to pay and what would I get for that price for selling a horse on my behalf? So far have been quoted £700 a month and 10% on sale. Blimey it's expensive! I could buy a small car, a 3 piece suite or a pony every month for that!

I would say usual full livery cost plus a comission which is usualluy around 10%..

Its a very expensive way of selling your horse.

I'd say the same as above, but you need to take into account that the horse would be exercised as well. I paid £250 per week for full livery with schooling, so that sounds about right, depending on the level of work the horse will be getting, if they are taking it to comps etc.

V expensive option....

Someone I know in the Midlands charged £150 per week without any percentage on sale. However, I would watch people who don't take a percentage on sale as they might just string out selling the horse because they can guarantee a weekly livery charge from you.

This happened to a friend of mine. The seller kept telling her that people were coming to look at the horse and putting in offers, and arranging vet checks and nothing was ever coming from it. In the end she took the horse back home and sold him within a week!!

I haven't any choice I'm afraid. I live in Cyprus, my horse is un UK. None of my family are horsey and my horsey friend just had a baby. Long story but he was on a loan where I paid some of the costs, it all fell through recently and I have realised I couldn't keep paying for a horse I never saw.

Even if he doesn't make me any money, I hope that I am getting him a nice home by doing this.
