What is a 'State Premium' broodmare ???

A states premium mare is not better than a Verbandspremium mare as per score. A mare has to be premium awarded by her Association, then she is Verbandspremium mare, to achieve the States Premium it depends the rules of the Associations. In some she has to do a mare performance test with xy score and to have 1 or two foals within a specific time. Or only the MPT or only the foals. It depends the Association. You need to inquire for the rules for States Premium award from the Association you want her to be with and then you will see. So far it is no better horse it has just achieved foals and MPT in addition.

The oldenburger site has information in english, this is the place to look.

If I were buying an Oldenburgh mare with a State Premium rating it would suggest to me that I was buying a horse that was proven and true to breed standard.
The fact that she has acheived Premium status would be a positive factor to me as an investor. You know what you are getting !

I disagree with the above, many mares can have MPT and or foals but they will never be State premium mares, (one of our old mares did both and missed out Pr.St by 2 points, another one of our mares passed with ease) Pr St mares are higher graded than main stud book mares for a reason which is they score highly in everyway, in the UK they are called Elite which basically explains itself "Elite mares"

springfall, you have not read what I have written or I have not made it really clear:

the states premium is nothing more than a premium awarded mare that in addition has the mare performance test with a certain score and had a number of certain foals, according to what the Association is asking for to get the states premium, but the initial is the premium award that she needs to get.

So in fact the premium award is the initial of the quality of the mare itself, nothing more or less. That means a Premium mare is of the same quality as a states premium mare, the states premium was only given on top for MPT and foals.

I thought I was very clear:

1. step: premium award (Verbandspraemienstute)
2. step: Mare performance test
3. step: certain number of foals (only in some Associations)

Hope this was now explained better.

Thanks, no i didnt understand what you meant, i thought you were saying that Pr.St didnt really mean more than a graded mare, sorry my mistake but wouldnt like people to get the wrong idea

If the mare has been awarded State Premium with the Oldenburger Verband, then she will be accepted straight into the Warmblood Breeders Studbook (previously the British Warmblood Society) here in the UK. If she is not State Premium, then she would have to undergo grading with them. I have purchased quite a few mares from the continent and they have all been State Premium (germany) or 'Keur' (KWPN)
