What is a troll?!

Hi everyone, just been reading the thread on thoroughbreds which I completely disagree with as my TB is absolutely adorable, and improves by the day!
The thread was quite amusing, however...I dont know what a troll is?
So please help me?

A troll is someone who post's to wind people up or to cause an argument.
Sometimes they are funny, sometimes they are nasty, quite often they are just plain rubish.
