I want to get my boy something to help with his back, he just gets a bit stiff until we have warmed up and I thought it may help him to use before riding. I like to lunge him before I get on and that helps as he is usually very fresh. His back is all checked out but he can be a bit tight. I have looked around and the choice (in my budget) is either a massage pad

or magnetic pad:

Do the magnetic pads really work or is it best to go for a massage one? Any thoughts appreciated

I would def go for the equilibirum massage pad rather than magnets. There's no scientific evidence that magnets actually work and I've heard alot of good things about the massage pad.

Don't waste your money on Equilibrium products they are seriously overpriced. Look on a human magnetic therapy website and you can pick up a set of high quality magnets for a few quid which you can then sew into your horses lightweight rug (or velcro them).

I also use a human magnetic massager which gives great results and you can pinpoint the exact sore spots etc far better than with a pad.

I use an eqilibriam pad its great and would highly recomend it and its not too pricy you can some times get them for a good price on ebay.

I would go for massage over magnets any day. There is no scientific evidence to support that magnets are useful at all. Can't comment on the equilibrium ones as I have no experience of it....but definitely go for massage out of the two :)

Hi I have bought the massage pad and it is brill tried the magnets as well but i would go with the massage pad first made a huge difference to my fellow
Good luck with what ever way you go.

Thanks so much guys for all your advice. I think I will go for the massage pad rather than the magnetic one. I like the massage chairs that you get sometimes at the big service stations so if it is anything like that it should feel nice for him. He really likes it when I use a rubber curry comb and presses against me when I use it. I can't quite afford a new one but the one on ebay is a bit cheaper.

Has anyone tried the equisage? or is the Equilibrium just as good. The equisage seems to be a lot of money but there may be a 2nd hand one around that is cheaper?
