I am spending it with my moody madam, having our weekly riding lesson. We had a great hack Sunday and yesterday and now it's time to do some schooling again. I Really am loving this relationship I am building with her! 2013 should be a great year for me and the new horsy! :) what's everyone else doing today?

I have a dilemma! My instructors horse has colic so she needs to stay home! My friend I hack out with is busy today and its sunny and not a bit of wind her! I'm thinking the best start to the new year would be to hack out alone for the first time! But... Me nor my horse have ever done it yet and I don't think either of us have the confidence! Do I just go for it or maybe walk her out in hand? Or wait till we are ready? I don't want to waste such a rare lovely day ATM! Advice please???

Anyone got any advice?

Just go for it! I started hacking alone by doing teeny tiny hacks (five minutes) and then getting off and walking home to give the noble steed (and me) confidence. Even if that's all you manage, it's still a brilliant step forward!

Usual this morning - mucking out and taking the dogs for a walk around Horseshoe Lake . . . home to prep our NYD dinner (roast lamb, roast tatties, carrots, cabbage and bacon and gravy), gridwork with my boy and then dinner with the family and games afterwards.

P

Crazycob06, go for it, like I did, or lead out so far & ride back. (First sign of 'trouble' I jumped off lol) but I was thrilled that I'd gone out by MYSELF! Let us know how it goes :)

Quiet day for us today, going to make a roast dinner then eat twice my own bodyweight in ice cream :D hope everyone has a good day x

I wish I was hacking my boy out as just back after he broke my arm. Unfortunately he is feeling very fresh so I think anything other than lunge is out of the question for a few days. Grrrrrrrr I never thought I would ride less when I had a horse than when I didn't!

Just been to do my lovely lady thought I'd be polite and say hi to people I don't know and got no response so that's a great start ha ha but am now off to buy my saddle yay finally :)
Hope you all have a lovely day and happy new year :)

A day off the ponies today my field mate is feeding them all and checking on them.

So once my fuzzy head had worn off a little I am off out for a riverside walk with my German Shepherd :)

Great way to spend the new year as it is a sunny day here with blue skies :)

Lying on the sofa, dosed up with Lemsip and Benalyn! Looking out of the window at the BEAUTIFUL day and missing his nibs - no riding for me today as I feel sooooo ill :( (temp was 101 this morning!!)

Bloomin' typical!

Hack on a snorting Arab pony, home made sausage rolls on sofa watching films, swallowing codeine for knackered back. X

We went for a drive to look at a house for sale which has 2 acres of land with it......looked nice, but would be 30mins further to drive to work...........definitely one to think about though!

Sorting horses, and spending the rest of the day dieing in a heap feeling sorry for myself.

Have to work later so shall die in a heap there too. :(

I should know better by now!

Took our fresh ponies out for a lovely hack! Roads were quiet and all the drivers we met were really considerate. :) lets hope this continues throughout 2013 :)
