Am considering doing some workers next year but also been looking at show hunter classes! Am pretty sure he's not a heavy weight! But is he a light weight or middle weight? Not sure how easy to tell from a pic but thought I might as well ask!

He's 3/4 ID, 5yrs, 16.2hh has 9 inches of bone, so not sure?!

I would say a light weight, very nice!

How is he bred?
Thank you, Terenure Lad out of Dellies Pride (Silver Granite & Sammys Pride as Grandsires)

Smart boy!
Lightweight :)
Thank you :-)

Glad you both gave the same answer, google has not been my friend today! Very contradicting info on bone widths, heights etc

Nice stamp but nowhere near done yet so don't be disappointed if he looks a bit weak against some of the others in the class. He will strengthen over the winter though.

Nice ladies horse and you would look fabulous in a habit.

He is only 16.2. I think he is more worker than flat horse to be fair to him.

I agree.

OP (at the risk of offending the diehard showing enthusiasts) please do not overtop him to try and compete with the ridden hunters. Keep him just the way he is for his own health :)

He is a gorgeous animal, just my type.

Thank you, agree he's got a lot of growing and filling out to do! think we'll stick with eventing and some workers!

Don't worry, they'll be no chance of that, he'll be hunting fit then out eventing next year! Showing really not my thing but would quite like to do some workers, always interesting to hear peoples opinions though :-)

Stunning!

Thank you!

I think he is lovely. All show hunters nowadays seem to be about 17.2 minimum and gross so you may feel a bit small (for small read 'normal').

I would say LW, although showing is definitely not my forte!

There is no harm in entering him, for experience if nothing else. If you get a nice judge they will always give you pointers too which can come in handy :)

He is stunning, good luck in whatever you do with him :)

My boy in my pictures is a lightweight have a mooch to compare I also have a heavyweight and she is nearly 18hh but she is only a baby so has loads of filling out and more growing to do.. We do are horses on how much bone they have it's best to be the biggest in the class than the smallest ( height) you could dip your toe in show hunter classes and you can make your mind up... Your boy is stunning good luck with him x
