My daughter was in a Native Pony Working Hunter class once with her connamara pony. The fences were a decent height for the average 13.2 ponies that were entered, not huge but not small either.

Along came a shetland pony, by far the smallest in the class, and proceed to fly round the fences. Of course it came first!

It will jump whatever it can jump, same as any horse. Trained well they are cracker little jumpers. My fave at riding school was always the shetland!

I think you'd find out if you put one in a starvation paddock with some good grass on the other side of the fence.

Yep. Furtive look round, drop & roll, tiny legs tucked in close to tum on way under, stand up on other side and innocently scoff grass.

I rode a Shetland for someone for a season. We did HOYS M+M working hunter pony qualifiers which were a good 85cm! They weren't meant to be that big but qualifiers are normally bigger.

He flew round including a mock (made of sponge) 5 bar gate which must have been about 90cm it was huge.
