My hunt are having a small show, there is working hunter, a clear round SJ, some dressage and some in hand classes. Included in these are, youngstock, veteran, M&M and then there is 'in hand horse'. So what will this entail. our youngster will be 4 in June so I think this excludes him from the youngstock which says for yearlings, 2 and 3 year olds. But I would like to take him for a bit of experience so maybe try the in hand horse. What will we have to do, what does he wear, what do I wear, does he have to be plaited, he is 3/4TB and 16.2hh.

I imagine the 'ih-hand horse' will be judged much the same way as the yougstock class, confirmation, manners & way of going without a saddle on. All good experience for babies.

Unless you are lucky enough to have an in-hand bridle, then his usual bridle will be fine. I would plait him, it looks smart and gives a good impression. You will be fine either riding smart riding gear, or hacking jacket and trousers. Either way, hard hat and gloves are essential!

Good luck!
