Can anyone please tell me what is involved in a Ride and Drive class? I used to show Welsh Cobs in hand and under saddle at county show level. Is the ridden part of the class the same as the routine you would do for any other mounted showing class? I have no idea about the driving side???????? Would I be able to ride the horse and someone else drive him or would I have to do both?????????? THANK YOU.

Ermm, I though this name described a class in which you jump a course of fences then get into a car and drive over a course in between cones.
I am not saying this means there are no other possibilities

havent done carriage driving for a few years but when i did it was a case of performing a routine in front of a judge, walk, trot , canter etc then change tack and do the same whilst riding, there was also a class that involved driving a course of cones against the clock then you had to take him of the gig and put a saddle on by this time some1 had put poles on top of the cones and you had to jump them, it was great fun but i dont think some1 else can drive for you, if you dont know how you should learn honestly its a scream and its not to hard, contact The British Driving Society who should be able to help you -sorry dont know how to do links lol hope this helps x

Thats great thanks. Thats my idea out of the window as the owner won't let me drive him - I don't really want to as he's a much more powerful horse in the carriage - under saddle he's putty in my hands because he loves his mummy (LOL!!

) and his owners would have to come with me when I first start driving which they just don't have the time or inclination for. I have had a go at driving though a pony called Bullet in our riding club. I did enjoy it!!!! THANK YOU for your replies.
